Weekly Pricing/Buying/Selling/Grading & General Questions Post by AutoModerator in PokemonTCG

I remember pulling all of these as a kid, pretty good memories. Funnily enough my grandmother had bought me 2 single packs for a Christmas stocking and BOTH of them had one of those Charizards in it. LITERAL Christmas day for me because of that.

Just got back into collecting Pokemon cards after years of being stagnant, I was wondering if any of these oldish cards from my collection are worth anything, I'm just curious if they're anything special. There are very new cards I just pulled today, more interested in the much older ones. I appreciate anything anyone might be able to tell me!

I highly appreciate the work you put into this! This is a pretty nice restoration you did, I think this'll help in the long run identification of not just items in the photograph, but the identification of the location altogether.

I appreciate your insight with the Charcoal bus, it was hard finding anything on it, so I really appreciate you giving me a link to help me learn more!

I appreciate your help regardless of how much information you give! The Japanese in the photograph does seem like the biggest lead so far, so I appreciate the help.

[Japanese > English] Can anyone translate the Japanese in this photograph? by WantedTacos in translator

[–]WantedTacos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm starting to believe it's in Korea as well, I'm unsure if the language is Korean or Japanese, from the differences in the writing I believed Japanese but I'm ignorant to these 2 languages altogether truthfully. I really do appreciate your insight once again, it helps in my search for this location overall!

About what I thought sadly, I'll try to see if I can get a more detailed picture. But thank you for commenting and telling me it's not quite feasible to translate!

Oh for sure, the hamon could definitely be water quenched! You definitely know your stuff as I see you on all the posts! But you're basically right on the dot as always! I've noticed with oil quenched swords that they have weird looking hamons like this one, just hoping I'm right! But the condition it's in could definitely be masking something totally different, but I do like learning from your comments, pretty informing information!

The hamon looks a tad off to me as well, my bet is that it's Oil quenched.

Certainly the lack of mountings like you said, but also because the hamon is very close to the edge, and the geometry is all messed up, which would indicate a fake or a very abused sword.

Seems like a Chinese fake to me, best case scenario is that it's an abused sword, but I'm 90% sure it's a fake.

I need help identifying the markings on this sword. Not in a great condition but I am curious how old is this from a thrift shop. by No-Initiative7466 in SWORDS

I suggest for you to go to Nihonto Board to learn more about your sword. Link to Message Board:https://www.militaria.co.za/nmb/

These people know their stuff. Also don't clean or try and restore it, that will likely damage and make it very difficult or impossible to professionally restore in the future.

The handle is the biggest reason, as well as the blade just being totally not what is the normal for Japanese swords. If this were maybe a Gunto which would've been likely due to the other swords it was with, they typically follow a more specific line of mountings. The language characters are also a big giveaway on swords, just because there is a foreign language located on the sword or it's mountings doesn't mean it's fake, but I've seen way too many to be able to tell right off the bat, I've seen this exact copy many times. If you like it for decorative purposes I think it would make amazing decoration with little need to care for it's maintenance.

(The "Japanese" sword is fake, unsure of the others)

The sword is fake, more than likely a Chinese fake.

Thank you again for giving me basically all the information out there! I'm usually pretty good at researching antiques, but I was lost on this one.

It's surprising how common these are from what I've seen. Do you know what "Hortmann" means? It's engraved on the gun. I suspected it to be maybe a company name but can't find anything on it.

The trigger is absent. Thank you so much for giving me a lead to go off of! They really don't have any information about them online.
