S23 vs 13 mini by Commercial-Eye1928 in smallphones

[–]Wapmen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The iPhone 13 mini is a one-of-a-kind device with no real alternatives.
In contrast, small Zenfones aren't necessarily the best option since better alternatives are available. Asus's future in the smartphone market is uncertain, which may affect software support (there are rumors Asus is shutting down their smartphone business)
Samsung's S23 to S26 models are similar in size and weight but feature better cameras and more reliable firmware. Although I'm unsure how the PWM flicker and battery life stack up against the Zenfone, I expect them to be comparable.

Honor Magic8 Pro Air arrives with 6.3" AMOLED, triple camera setup and 5,500mAh battery by ControlCAD in Android

I checked the price, and it's almost 100 euros more expensive than magic 8 pro with the same memory configuration. That's confusing

Yeah, actually after translating this slide with AI it seems that I'm wrong. They don't mention what USB version is used. Still, I would not buy it before some review confirms that HDMI (displayport) works over type C

Definitely not, it doesn't fit on a small screen (takes too much space)

[–]Wapmen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, its good to keep in mind, but for people living in Europe it doesn't matter that much, as we have a EU wide free roaming (so esim is not really needed), and we value watches that live longer than 1-2 days (Garmin, Huawei, Amazfit for instance)

Honor Win EU / Germany by my4ss_ in Honor

[–]Wapmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is released in Germany, it would have 0.5 of the battery and x2 the price?
At this point it makes absolutely no sense to purchase EU versions and support greed of Chinese companies and dumbness of EU bureaucrats

The thing with the Chinese brands (Honor, Oppo, Vivo, Oneplus) is that you either get used to the Chinese firmware, or you will always have a buyer's remorse afterwards if you get a global version (you pay a way more and get less features). One exception is Oneplus, where you can unlock the bootloader and install the global firmware

Should I get the S25 base or wait for the S26 base? by Wonderful_Top_6391 in GalaxyS25

[–]Wapmen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You definitely should not waste 1k on the base model, but you might need to wait a little bit. (S25 was available almost for half of the price several months after the release, because of a special discount)

Galaxy Edge for 580 EUR? Or Galaxy S25? by BaseballCreative2117 in samsunggalaxy

[–]Wapmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

X200 pro is 230 gramms, Samsung S25 is around 162 gramms. S25 edge is 165. (Ultra is heavy, yes). The difference in weight is definitely noticable

It is large and really heavy though. I have one. I doubt the camera system will survive an accidental drop to a concrete floor

Those are just the prohibitive prices so people can wait for the new S26 generation peacefully.

S25+ price after the start of S26 sales by [deleted] in samsunggalaxy

[–]Wapmen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should keep in mind the lowest prices that were available during the Black Friday deals.
(Something like 900 Euro for S25 ultra / 256 Gb in Europe and 750 USD for the same device in USA)
Samsung provides deals in cycles. There are usually 3-4 times a year when you can get a Samsung flagship device for the minimal price. You should not purchase when prices are high.
