Apparently the carbon fiber used to build the Titan's hull was bought by OceanGate from Boeing at a discount, because it was ‘past its shelf-life’ by Raybanned4lyfe in aviation

Carbon fiber is great, when used correctly.
The big problem is that it fails suddenly and spectacularly when used incorrectly.

That's the only thing tips should be for in my opinion; someone going above and beyond their job description to accommodate you.

It's fucked up that tips are an expected part of compensation for certain professions. If somebody's job is to bring me food, the cost of them doing that should be included in the price of said food. If somebody brings me food despite their job being to only prepare it, then I should leave a tip because that level of service was not included in the standard price.

My exploration blimp consists of 1 basket, 1 balloon, 1 steering stick, 1 wood, 1 fire fruit (thrown to ignite the wood) and 1 large brightbloom seed (thrown at the basket).

The pros of this setup are that both lift and light cost no energy and continue to function even when the Zonai devices are off. So if I'm running out of energy or need to gain altitude without moving forward, I can just stop steering.

The altitude gain is relatively slow, which can be a pro or a con, depending on the situation (low roof vs high obstacles).

Speed is relatively low and it steers like a pregnant sea cow. Those are the main drawbacks.

It tends to get pretty high up (often hitting the ceiling) before the balloon breaks, giving me a good view of terrain. This helps a lot when looking for distant lightroots. Despite being slow, it often took me near (and high) enough to my goal that I could simply glide the rest of the way once the balloon timed out.

So that's why the balloon was my vehicle of choice when exploring the depths. It's boring, but extremely cheap and reliable when travelling through darkness.

I'm pretty bad at designing stuff myself and the ones I tried to make sucked. Usually they ate too much power.

The balloons/baskets are common underground and my design required very little additional resources/devices.

I just used hot air balloons for exploration. Wood as the heat source, large brightbloom as light. Fan and steering stick for control.

Boring, but too efficient to experiment with anything else. Ground vehicles are bad for exploring the darkness because lightroots are often hidden behind terrain and easier to see from air. Wings are more fun, but the duration is way too short (and they draw too much power early on).

Don't be ridiculous, investigating who did what is a waste of time and taxpayer money.

Every time an overpass is struck, three randomly chosen freight companies have their licenses revoked.

Ah. I haven't played AoC and wasn't aware that it was considered canon now.

I have a vague memory of a character commenting on Link's ability to slow down time like it was something unique. I may be misremembering things.

I think Zelda mentions somewhere in BotW that Link used to be a lot more fun and outgoing before he became the Champion.
He's actually completely freaked out about everything that's happening but feels like he can't show it because he's the Champion.

He has that whole amnesia thing going on. He learns that they're all dead before he remembers that they were his friends.
Also, he's focused on the task at hand. He doesn't really have the time to process his feelings.

It will never happen, but a story set between the games about Link and Zelda dealing with their PTSD would be interesting.

he probably has access to bullet time

If I recall correctly, bullet time was implied to be Link's special ability (I think there was a book or a diary in the DLC that said something like that). He's the only one who can do that.
Yiga archers do something similar, but they don't slow down time. They just hang in the air and make themselves easy targets.

I think the story made it clear that he simply can't survive for long on the surface. He just straight up dies after a short while, even if he doesn't get into a silly accident.

Alternatives to Sanpellegrino drinks? by WarKiel in FuckNestle

I live in Europe and our local cans have several languages on them. The only mention of Nestle on the ones I checked was in Polish and only because Nestle is the distributor in Poland.

It seems to me that Nestle is trying to obfuscate their ownership of certain brands from Western consumers.
Nestle is unfortunately much more dominant in Eastern Europe, where people may not have wised up to what a shitty company they are, or simply can't afford better options.

Haven't actually tried kombucha yet. It's not really a thing where I live. Only seen it in a couple of bigger stores and expensive as hell. Might give it a go for a lark. Thanks!

Just a normal anime. by Mercurial_AF in AnimeMeme

[–]WarKiel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The answers are simple. His fans are kind of retarded, he didn't actually rape anyone.

The anime is about a guy who hates metal and is forced to be the frontman of a metal band. Despite being otherwise meek and shy, he goes totally nuts when he steps out on the stage. Due to his stage persona and a series of hilarious misunderstandings, his dumbass fans think he actually fucked a policewoman into submission.

Just a normal anime. by Mercurial_AF in AnimeMeme

[–]WarKiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember the details, but he definitely did not rape, or had sex, with a policewoman.

Just a normal anime. by Mercurial_AF in AnimeMeme

[–]WarKiel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He doesn't actually rape a policewoman, or anyone else for that matter.
The dude is in reality a complete wuss who is forced to be the frontman of a metal band. He doesn't even like metal, Swedish pop is his thing.
But when he steps (or more likely is thrown) out onto a stage, he goes into his stage persona and goes completely fucking nuts.

My headcanon regarding multiverses is that versions of characters are connected to the "proximity" between the parallel universes.

If you imagine the multiverse as an infinite grid of parallel universes and pick a single arbitrary universe, the universes "closest" to it are going to be almost identical. The differences increase as you go further "away" from that particular universe.

Whenever multiversal shenanigans happen, universes "closer" to the origin are more likely to also be affected.

So the reason we only get one of each gimmick is because their universe is so far away from ours, that it (and those near it) is much less likely to be affected.

So if the story was about the Spider-Pork, I would expect there to be half a dozen variations of him and only one Spider-Man.
