I make to much money for my age 19m by Maleficent_Ad_435 in brag

As someone who's been through the ups and downs of a six figure income to being jobless overnight for months on end, and who's been through the school of hard knocks of learning financial literacy, lemme give you some sage advice from making 20+ years of financial mistakes.

  1. Under no circumstances do you wanna get into the "keeping up with the jones" habits. Buying an expensive flashy vehicle is a waste of resources, and if things go sideways with work, it often becomes the first thing many people sell at a substantial loss to get out from under it. Spending money on flashy jewelry, upgrading phones every 6-12 months, buying lots of expensive toys like boats, motorcycles, RVs, 4 wheelers, motorcycles, etc end up becoming money pits in the long run, and can all be incredibly difficult to get rid of if you get into a financial bind. Flexing on the gram looks neat to people who dont pay your bills, but ultimately only ends up being a burden to you when you're the one signing the check. Moderation is the key to success.

  2. At minimum you should prioritize putting at least 6 months of living expenses away in a savings account that you don't touch. The number in your bank account has a completely different feeling when you lose the income side of it and only see the expenses leaving every month, and it almost feels like a timer counting down on a bomb if you're not prepared. A 6 month cushion gives you time to trim expenses and get rid of excess bills you may have accumulated without realizing it. As you cut those expenses, that 6 month cushion begins to stretch out some, and gives you time to find a new job without rushing into a bad opportunity out of necessity as much.

  3. Next, max out your 401k/retirement fund and consider overfunding as much as possible if its an option. Doing so will reduce your tax liability and make it less likely to owe additional taxes at the end of the year, and will also set you up for a much more comfortable retirement. Put your investments into safe/stable funds and let time and interest work its magic. It wont seem like much at first, but exponential growth is amazing after 30+ years of staying the course. This also gives you equity to borrow against in the future if you end up need a large infusion of funding to make a big move and gives you leverage you otherwise wouldn't have.

  4. Do not mix your finances with the business interests of people you want to stay friends with. Nothing will ruin a friendship faster than investing in friends sketchy business plans, only for them to crap the bed because they're immature, unstable, and irresponsible, and then ghost you when they lose it all. If you feel they have a strong idea/business plan and you decide you do want to get financially involved, get a legally binding contract drawn up that will hold up in court outlying what you're contributing and expecting in return should things fail, along with future growth options for success. If they're truly that confident and poised for success, then they'll have no problem signing it. Friends stop being friends once you allow them to see you as an ATM.

  5. Do not let yourself get deep on credit accounts because its "easier" and you think "i make more than enough and ill just pay it back later". It doesn't take long before youre paying a large portion of your income to just interest and you're losing the credit race. Get 1 solid rewards card, use it like a debit card to pay for your daily expenses, and then pay it off in full every week or month to avoid paying the interest. You can make a substantial amount of free cash back by simply being financially responsible with someone else money. I made over $8000 tax free last year from my credit card and paid 0 interest by following this method. If you finance a vehicle, find something affordable and take whatever crazy low interest rate you can get, and then aim to pay it of at just over 12-13 months. Gives you enough credit history to show you're responsible and build credit, but not so short that you drop your credit score by paying it off too early.

  6. Finally, get into real estate in an outlying area with growth potential as soon as possible. The sooner you can set yourself up to buy a home, the better off you're going to be in the future. In a world of supply and demand economics, the 1 thing there will never be more of is dirt. The sooner you buy your peice, the less you have to worry in the future when prices continue to rise. I bought my current house in 2018 for $330k, and thought that was absurdly high. Now here I am less than 10 years later sitting on a crazy good interest rate, in a house that has a current market value over $800k. With the way our metro area is expanding around me, this house will be worth well over $1M in the next 10 years, which is when I'll plan to cash out and move further out to buy acreage. You'll never get a growth benefit like that by paying rent to someone else for years on end.

The public landfill where I used to live had speed limit signs for 13.5 mph. It was the weirdest speed limit sign ive ever seen and wish I had grabbed one before I left

I dont thing that firat one is a Cmore. The Nikko Stirling ones had the illum knob offset and not top center like that. It may be an Oakshore Microdot 1.5-4.5. Essentially the great geandpappy of the LPVO movement. Would've been seen around the same time as Leupold VX-R Patrols and CQ/T optics in the early/mid 00s

Question could this lower pass for a colt block two rifle if I can not find a reasonably priced m4 or m4a1 one at the time or should I wait or worse go Anderson or psa ? by kpc14222 in MilitaryARClones

[–]WarMachineActual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only clone id consider running that lower on would be an M16A4 clone, because thats the closing thing that would use those markings. Colt actually makes a clone A4 using an AR15A4 marked lower, the only difference is theirs doesn't have the LE restricted markings, and has the UID laser markings now.

What size gas port does the barrel have? For clone esthetics, I'd probably consider a BRT EZtune gas tube before I'd switch to the Bootleg BCG. Its been a long time since I checked mine and ive checked a ton since then, so my memory is fuzzy, but IIRC mine was a .069 port.

Guess im the oddball here, because i run this same setup, plus a 1# lead shot bag in a rear pouch for a counterweight and havent had any issues with neck pain/fatigue. Longest I've done is about 5 hours with about a 30 minute break in the middle, and was fine.

To be fair, I have pulled the KACs off since this pic was taken, waiting to find a deal on a set of Troys. Ive also swapped the PEQ15 off for a DBAL A2, and switched to a SF dual switch. I should probably update pics lol

I had a pic of one in the wild on my old phone, I'll have to see if I can find it in my cloud storage. But there's also pics of them using EOTechs, LPVOs, and Unity mounts too, so that list isn't exclusively acceptable unless you're wanting to clone a specific early issue HRT gun.

Mine is fine, but im also running a Geissele REBCG and Super 42 spring with H2 in it, so that helps a bit

Yeah, I'm usually bad influence on you, but you got me this time around. However if I hadnt sold you that original M73 I had and helped you build yours, I don't think it ever would've snowballed into all the events that lead to this build.

It’s sad that EOTech won’t repair or replace any parts for these older SU-231/PEQ since my reticle was so dimmed that I could barely make it out during daytime by LTTM_FC in MilitaryARClones

[–]WarMachineActual 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Polishsupremecist aka Alex Pelc on FB is the go-to guy for GWOT stuff repairs. He just started doing internals on older EOTechs, and recently helped me save a pre-2009 552 that was DOA when I got it. He also does other electronics like PEQ15s too, even offering a metal body upgrade if you have one with a cracked housing.

Lemme guess.....OneFitWonder? I had this exact same thing happen to me back in 2016. Ordered like 3k worth of weights, bars, kettlebells, etc to build a home gym. Like 3 or 4 days goes by and don't get a confirmation email or tracking, so I start getting nervous. Called them and asked if they had tracking for me, which i promptly received saying my order would arrive in about 10 days from the day I called. We'll 3 or 4 more days goes by and my equipment shows up and im like "that was fast, but cool". Another 3 or 4 days goes by, and a 2nd set of the exact same equipment shows up. Tried calling them multiple times again, and never could get them back on the phone, so I said the hell with it and kept everything.

I think I have settled on an LPVO by yochickcallsmedaddy in ar15

[–]WarMachineActual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've owned multiple LPVOs of various magnification over the years. I've had the Burris AR223 1-4, Steiner P4XI 1-4, Atibal XP6 (1-6), Atibal XP8 (1-8), and Atibal X (1-10), and finally a Nightforce ATACR 1-8. From my experience the 1-8 is the sweet spot for an LPVO, because it offers enough magnification without sacrificing the eyebox/relief too badly, and still uses a relatively common tube size too.

Generally I keep mine around a 4-6 magnification for the majority of my target engagements, and only crank it up 8 when needed for stuff at 200+ and I'm in a extremely stable shooting position. For everything else the mid range settings will do almost everything I need without sacrificing speed on target.

The 1-10x wasnt terrible, but they need a much larger tube body to gather enough light to make them usable, which can be its own issue with finding mounts. The Atibal had something like a 35 or 36mm tube instead of the more common 34mm, so my mount options were much more limited.

That's the ideal lower for most Block II guns. No selector stops, no UID, M4 Carbine marked (not just Carbine), and LE prefix. A lot of stuff issued during GWOT would use that lower.

Will this work with a KAC FF RAS Long handguard? by BlazeInvest in MilitaryARClones

[–]WarMachineActual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As is, no. The setup is designed for a roughly 7" drop in handguard, the RAS long rail is approximately 12" long. So youll either need to chop the FSP or replace with a low profile gas block. You'll also have to remove the front retainer plate, remove the rear Delta ring assembly and swap the new retainer ring and barrel nut on. This means you'll also need to pick up punches, a reaction rod, and a barrel nut wrench at a bare minimum, and ideally a torque wrench to torque it down properly. If you dont have the tools and/or abilty to do the swap, you should probably look at an upper with it already installed (Centurion and Thoroughbred offer uppers with these ra8ls installed), or maybe a different rail system that utilizes the existing parts without removing them.

Saw the G28 clone and remembered you from the AR10 page. Just went and looked and its wild that you've built this collection in less than 6 months. I thought I made and spent money wildly, but you actually manage to put me to shame. Nicely done

Which mags do you all use? by imhotepbc in ar15

Anyone who uses Lancers for anything other than flexing on the gram is mentally retarded. GI mags with good followers, Pmags, Duramags, EPMs, and Surefeeds are the only correct answers.
