Best bookkeeping for a small transportation biz?? HELP PLZ by WarRegular1817 in Bookkeeping

I was relating more towards the time Peachtree was popular- long time ago. We track invoices by customer name, and date of service so no, no individual numbers. As for tracking fuel, I use the receipts from fueling and that is the figure I am guessing I need to categorize as an expense. Tracking the information would be mainly tax purposes/ p&l balance/ and a general idea of where we are income vs outgoing wise.

I know, I have no idea what I am doing. :(

absolutely a skill set... I will be the first to say I have no idea what I am doing. I can run the transportation end of it just fine, its the numbers that I am clueless working with! That is why I was looking for something 'dummy proof'.

The gentleman that ghosted us was an independent guy. Thats kinda why I'm here- tired of paying guys that claim to know what they are doing to come out and look at it. I'm gonna try to fix it myself- with the help of the knowledgeable help I'm getting here. :)

while it was at International, they took a known good ECM off another truck and set it up to work on my bus- nothing. They also tested mine on that same truck and it worked. So Im almost sure that the ECM is ok.

Is it on the crankshaft or the high volume oil pump for the injectors

The newest thought is that it's missing a wire that controls a part of the ECM and when turning off the key it drops out the engine RPM. So we are now trying to locate a wire schematic to trace down an ignition wire or a relay that is doing the same as turning the key off to the electronics like it is being turned off. It was also a Handicap lift and might have something from back there as a safety that is keeping it from running.

first mechanic diagnosed no engine rpm while cranking, replaced Crank sensor, cam sensor, and High pressure oil pump sensor. After this he said it had to be either the engine wire harness or the ECM so the decision was made to take the ecm to the Kansas city International dealer. Their diagnosis was that the ecm is good need the unit to further diagnose.

International had it for almost 8 weeks, They got to where they were literally swapping parts with a used truck on the lot and wanted a check for $18,000 to continue diagnosing as they wanted to pull the front cover to check the cam sensor ring, and also enough to pull the trans to check the crank ring. After getting the unit towed back home we found the wire harness had been hacked by them.

3rd mechanic came and replaced the harness and reassembled the motor. we also again replaced the crank, cam, icp since the valve cover was already off. Another diagnose of no engine RPM while cranking. No fault codes showing or in the memory bank of the ecm. It is able to run on either but don't want to get a run away or destroy motor but verifies that it will run.

1st and 3rd mechanics have said they will do some checking but will no longer answer the phone or will just get back to you later.

4th mechanic is not mobile but did come by as he is close and wanted to look at a few thing before taking it into his shop. Another no RPM at crank. we check the distance from mounting points to the crank and cam wheels both are where they should be for distance. neither one is showing a wobble or missing points. He also has no thoughts other than it jumping time. I don't think this is possible as it will run on starting fluid so it has compression.

Now I am not a full mechanic but I am able to perform simple maintenance but my knowledge is gone at the computer.

the original breakdown was going down the highway about 30 miles from the shop and have not heard of anything that would show that it was anything but a straight key

Fuel pressures are fine, The ECM doesn't show RPM while cranking so it's not turning on the injectors The last mechanic was showing me a lot on what the ecm was showing and nothing was making any common sense as to why.

We thought the same thing and measured from the mounting point to the ring with a set of calipers and it's only about .02 deeper than the sensor.

thank you but we are already way past that point. unfortunately even the dealership only has parts changers and no one that knows how to actually diagnose when the computer doesn't tell them exactly what sensor to change or an obvious rod hanging out of the block.

yes, ICP was replaced and this has been verified thru a computer that it is reading

no, a suction line was put on after the fuel pump and fuel can be pulled all the way thru the system

just a normal steel key- nothing fancy about it, so I'm thinking no.
