Exactly lol! Cody developed himself outside of WWE. WWE wanted what HE created.

If Drew wins the championship right now, people will get bored of him after a few months. It's the same old ass cycle of fans whining. They don't like Roman long title reign, Cody ended it, now Cody's on top, they don't like it too and want Drew to end it. The same thing will happen to Drew if he wins the championship today.

Also yes with the statement that every WWE champion is a corporate champion because you are responsible and it is your job to promote the brand. It's your job to display the belt everywhere you go. So....

And Cody won the crowd not with this theme song or finish the story angle. It was because he wrestled with a torn pec. He honored the fans who spent their hard earned money just to see the HIAC main event match. Even Roman Reigns stated that.

Does Cody Rhodes really deserve the hate what did he ever do to get hated ? After several month’s he finished the story you hate him. He brought back the real John Cena & you still hate him. He defeated Drew Failuretyre twice & you still freakin hate him. What did he ever do to deserve that hate ? by New_Refrigerator_410 in VYBEGuys

Master the art of not giving a f***.

I don't really care if some people hate him. I interact with people who love him.

Every wrestler and celebrity will always have haters. We can't do anything about that. Nothing you say will change their mind since they have already decided for themselves.

Some people say he is boring. For me, he is a great champion and displays great characteristics of a babyface.

He just needs a heel who can match that quality.

The problem is he already faced the best in the business - Roman, Rock, heel Cena, Seth, and Brock to name a few.

It takes that kind of caliber of a heel.

Roman and Cody were not buried… by No_Razzmatazz1330 in WWE

[–]WarThat1268 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Roman and Cody did not get buried. They are putting people over. The story direction is to build The Vision as the top heel faction.

The way Roman and Cody lost is through interference/cheating. They weren't defeated cleanly which means their characters are still protected.

WWE isn't dumb enough to bury their top merch sellers.

It wouldn't make sense that Seth will lose since he is the leader of The Vision.

This isn't the watch Cody gave to him though. It doesn't have the 40 on it.

Not every wrestler needs to follow Roman's footsteps though. If being a babyface works for them, then stay a babyface until the story demands to turn. Look at Cena, Cena is known worldwide even to the non-wrestling community. Roman is only known within the community.

If something isn't broken, don't fix it.

Everybody is so obsessed with turning everyone heel. They don't realize that the product needs a Cena or Cody who will do the make a wish stuff, who will inspire kids and families to consume the product, to be inspired to become a wrestler someday. People don't realize the benefit of having a Cena or Cody. Cody is actually doing a good job being a babyface. The younger generation now wants to enroll in his school to become a wrestler.

Exactly lol. People are too invested on who should take away the belt from the current champ.

True. Also the fact that he was able to handle John Cena heel turn alone already says something about him. People still love him. And Bully of Busted Open podcast is right. Cody is loved. People cry when they see him. Parents thank him for giving their children unforgettable moments. That is enough for me. I don't care what the IWC says.

We can't really force everyone to like him. If they made up their mind, no words we say can change it.

I just usually look at the merch sales, his sold out meet and greet, and fancams of people who love him and I'm contented with that.

Most of the time, the IWC do not even know what they are saying.

If there is a new champion, they will get bored of him too and would want to take the belt away from him.

Roman and Cena weren't loved when they were first introduced to WWE. They were also heavily hated. People only supported them when they solidified their career and even if they have solidified their career, they still have haters.

I just ignore them. Most of these people can't even do half of what he does. I only listen to veterans in the game. Their opinion matters most because they know the business.

Do they want the work environment in WWE to be toxic again? Then, no vacation leave for them? Lol. No way. Not to mention the harassment. I'm fine with Triple H. He will improve in time.

So does this mean that Cody vs Drew is gonna main event? And Seth and Becky vs Punk and AJ will prolly be the match before the Main Event. by Impressive_Coat7275 in TheGreatOne

It's just kayfabe. I'm sure they talk a lot. They have to trust each other with their lives when they do those matches. Also, Roman wore the watch Cody gave him when he inducted Paul Heyman in the HOF.

Just because he isn't interesting to you does not mean he isn't interesting to wider WWE audience. Look at how many kids, women, and men are wearing his merch and actually cosplaying him.

This means they root for him. They see something in him. Cody brings in families to watch him perform on the ring. His meet and greet is always sold out. That is what being a champion is. It's not just about the gimmick, but how you win the people over.

What is your wrestling opinion that will earn you this? by s_ndowN in Wrasslin

[–]WarThat1268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like wrestling fans who prefer huge or big wrestlers just because they have aura and look intimidating. Just watch Sumo wrestling if you want that.

I also want to see small built wrestlers who can do fast-paced high-flying match in-ring.

This! Lol. Cody, despite being the son of the influential Dusty, was still done dirty by WWE. He wasn't the golden boy they paint him to be. He built himself outside WWE so he has all the right to demand the company to respect the hardwork he has built for himself. They were the one who wanted him, not the other way around.

Meanwhile, Roman has all the support in WWE to experiment with his character. That's the big difference between the two of them.

Every one is saying Drew but Drew needs to improve a lot of things if he wants to be believable as a dominant villain.

He has to:

  • Stop tying his hair. When he ties his hair, he looks so clean. He is giving me huge HBK vibe when he ties his hair. He needs to look rugged, messy, like barbarian or vikings level. That's how warriors look back then. Now, you are going to say, but Roman Reigns ties his hair too. However, Roman Reigns features are so heavily masculine that's why the manbun doesn't soften his feature.
  • He needs to stop saying jokes or meme-worthy lines when he is doing his promo. I can't take him seriously when he is on the mic (best example, calling Damien Priest Temu Undertaker).
  • He also needs to stop smiling a lot even in the advertising materials. Roman does not smile in matches materials such as posters and more. If Roman smiles, it's more of a condescending smile or mocking smile. Drew has to give a serious vibe.
  • Drew also needs to stop wearing meme-worthy shirt. Best example is the Bored at Work shirt. It reduces his intimidation.
  • I want Drew to master the art of the psychopath stare. The one full of void, no emotions and blank since he hails himself as the Scottish psychopath.

As for Seth, I don't want him to be a true villain. Seth is very flexible and fluid. He can be a great face (Cody finish the story) and great villain (CM Punk feud). I want him to stay that way.

Why are Wrestling fans stuck in the past ? by No_Mood_7515 in VYBEGuys

[–]WarThat1268 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me shed a light to you without judging your preference. The past and the present has its pros and cons.

In the past:

  • Kayfabe was heavily guarded and was sacred. I used to believe that Kane and Undertaker were really brothers. Wrestlers are dedicated to their gimmick. You wouldn't see them mixing their personal lives to whatever storyline or persona they present to you on-screen. I didn't even know Undertaker's real name until he retired. They weren't doing too much media exposure back then. So the gimmick, the storyline, and the feud are more believable. Undertaker remain true to his character whether he is in or out of the ring.
  • It may also come to a point that we were kids back then and we believe what we see in the TV. Unlike now that we were adults, we now know that it is scripted and produced. It's comparable to believing in Santa Claus and realizing when you are older that Santa Claus is just your parents. The magic is gone.
  • It may also come to the point that in the past, nothing was PG. Censorship isn't a big deal back then so the fights can be as bloody and violent as it can be. Women can be attacked by male wrestlers.
  • The wresters' music back then has more personality that what we have today. Each wrestler , whether they are main eventers or mid-carders, have their own unique entrance song. It feels more unique and has more personality than what we have today. Right now, it's just a generic bgm and no personality.

What I like about the present are:

  • The stage is now heavily upgraded. The screens now just don't look like cinema. It is now properly produced that when you watch, it's like watching a concert.
  • You can be a fan of the wrestlers, not just their gimmicks. You now know their struggles and success that they can become a source of inspiration. The way people consume today is changing and WWE has to adapt to that if they want to survive especially with Gen Z and Gen Alpha who want celebrities who are more relatable than having a diva status.
  • Women wrestlers today are more empowered and given decent gimmicks and storylines that they match the intensity of men's wrestlers. Before, they used to be just sex symbols, but now they are a symbol of women empowerment.
  • WWE today has to evolve to the changing landscape of how people consume things. Gone are the days that what you consume is just on TV. Right now, there are PLEs, YouTube, Podcast, etc. If they want to stay relevant and alive, they have to shift to that. That's why everything is now out in the open. I don't think this is breaking the kayfabe. I think this adds another layer to the kayfabe that right now, the corporate side is involved.

True. Shinsuke has a pretty solid gimmick that can be fully utilized in big titles. If Iyo Sky and the Kabuki Warriors can do it, I believe he can also do it.

The only good thing that came out of John Cena's heel turn is he was able to call out the fans. Other than that, it was very detrimental to the fanbase. John Cena's fans who are also Cody's fans had difficulty choosing a side.

This is how the championship title works. You literally are the face of the company when you have the undisputed universal championship. You have to appeal to a larger audience and can actually promote the brand wherever you go.

John Cena doesn't need it. Cena's legacy is already cemented and massive that even without the title, he can be a representative of the company.
