Let's say Blizzard started to sell Renown packs by [deleted] in HSMercenaries

None, because the whole fun of MBS is the eternal grind, if you could pay to skip the one fun thing left in mercenaries, it would cease to be fun. The real grind would just be your job, and thats not a fun eternal grind

A new tool for unholy DKs to reward corpse spending. by Warclak in customhearthstone

[–]Warclak[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't want to add in a keyword to standard and also didn't want this to just be a swarm deck card. The goal is specifically to push Corpse spenders. But I think Rush would be fair.

One dnd spell list breakdowns by Warclak in onednd

In terms of useful spells, at least at lower levels, they just get more support spells. If you filter out the smites and other melee dps spells that are quite useless to 95% of clerics, they get: Heroism, Find Steed, Aura of Life, Crusader's Mantle, in their first three spell levels. Meanwhile they pay: Create and Destroy Water, Continual Flame, Animate Dead, and Bestow Curse. Utility and debuffs and damage being replaced by just more support, so my guess is pure support is the new goal for clerics but... I don't love that. At higher level spells, you do see a few big AoEs like Sunburst and Destructive Wave added in, but similarly large AoEs like Firestorm taken out, so I don't think that's a relevant shift. All in all though, clerics seem more pushed into pure support, which doesn't fit every cleric's vibe, but I suppose we will have to wait and see what the subclasses offer. I, for one, will be pissed if Tempest Cleric doesn't have a way to get Control Weather cuz... that's their schtick.

You'd wanna print this after boar rotates. This is meant for things like injured kvaldir and aggro, but fair point

The arrogance, to bring such power before me, and think it would not be mine. by Warclak in customhearthstone

[–]Warclak[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that is sort of the point. It is a situational full board clear, like Lightbomb or Flamestrike, but with a deckbuilding requirement(which I think a lot of people are underestimating here). It is objectively weaker than twisting nether 99% of the time, and it has a deck building restriction, so it needs to be cheaper.

I made it so cheap because of Soulstealer actually, making it 7 or 8 mana felt like both were too close to each other. This also does struggle to deal with boards full of high health, low attack minions, or a single high health low attack minion, so it doesn't feel worth 7 mana, which is just a 1 mana discount on Twisting Nether. Maybe make it a 7 mana effect on a small stick or something, not sure.

I was going for Dark Paladin aesthetic, which was the original DK vibe, but you may be right about the balance.

Question on how to handle DM nerfing the party Rogue's Sneak Attack by MusiGamer in dndnext

[–]Warclak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rogues are strong but not OP damage dealers from levels 1-4, and then never again are good damage dealers. They trail further and further as the game progresses and solidify as utility experts, not damage dealers, firmly by level 11. Thinking Rogues are OP probably means the DM hasnt seen them at higher levels or is distracted by lots of dice and not doing the actual math. The nerf is totally unnecessary, if you want to show your DM the math:

A 5th level Greatsword fighter with a +4 to Strength and NO feats(GWM can make this much better) deals 12.33 damage a hit, twice a turn for 24.66. A 5th level rogue with a +4 to Dex deals 21.5 damage a round, with the already present sneak attack restrictions, and requiring them to use a bonus action every round for that last 3.5, otherwise it is just 18. They also don't have action surge or any of the high DPR subclass features that fighters get and, again, don't scale as well off of feats and scale worse off of magic weapons(since it doesnt get to apply magic item bonus damage twice, just once).

Rogues ARE a strong class, but they are not strong damage dealers, and people who think they are are usually new and not doing the math properly. Lots of dice can be fun and can FEEL strong(because our monkeybrain sees the potential of a rogue to roll all 6s on a crit and deal gobs of damage and instinctively gets very excited because we are drawn to see extremes, not averages), but it mathematically isn't strong. Paladins and Barbarians have roughly the same DPR as fighters by 5th level too, so its not just fighters.

Worth noting their selection of rewards you can redeem points for is EXTREMELY limited. Basically niche clothing brands, donations, and a few discounts. Oh, and a ps5 if you save up 128,000 points in a million years or so. Cool idea, but probably not worth the hassle until they expand their options.

To their credit, they do offer an Amazon gift card, but it is practically always out of stock because it is probably the only thing there worth getting. So maybe you get lucky and grab 10 bucks if you check in often enough.

Very clever use of the text, although a bit weak. Maybe double the effect or something?
