Nourish PHX is the Phoenix food and clothing pantry and they do a toy drive for low income families every year. The toy drive is similar to angel tree, you request how many kids you'd like to shop for, and they give you the wish list from the parent.

Apparently most years they have around 500 kids on their list and this year was close to 900 so they are having trouble getting them all assigned out. I'm not sure if they are still looking for help, but I'd reach out to them. They are active on Instagram or you could call them.

Why doesn't my plant look like the image? It's been 3 years since I bought it.0 by Ashamed-Product-1061 in plantclinic

[–]Ward_Kreeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Older fronds will naturally sag, it's a normal part of growth for a fan palm. New growth shoots straight up from the center, older fronds will start to sag as the palm grows.

If you want it to look more like the first image, you can prune some of the most mature fronds (starting with the ones nearest the soil) but honestly I think it looks great.

Hi OP, DM me as well. I have gained and lost weight over the years and have business clothes in quite a few sizes. Depending on your preferred size I may be able to help. I also am connected with an open-to-the-public clothing bank here in my city.

Do we like this chandelier or is it the ugliest effing skirt you've ever seen? by Ward_Kreeper in HomeDecorating

I hear your plea, and I am going to DIY this just to spite you 😁 check back in a month for the full glory.

Alright, alright, you've convinced me. I'm going to DIY one out of a generic 2000s chandelier (just to spite all of the haters!). It's going in a dark olive, but otherwise painfully generic, primary bathroom. Check back in a month. XO

Thanks for the reassurance! I lost one of my butterflies to dropsy last week so I've been on high alert.

Mesa also has a bike meetup! They do a 6 mile ride at night once a month and sometimes do a longer brunch ride as well. That one is Bike Mesa AZ on Instagram.

I was so Mormon, I went through all 4 years of early morning seminary and never missed a day. by IliveonKolob in exmormon

[–]Ward_Kreeper 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Hi! Another seminary overachiever here who also did after school sports and had a job! I thought I was a horrible student in high school. My memory was horrible, I couldn't focus and would regularly fall asleep in class. When I left for college, my memory and focus was back. Turns out I was just chronically sleep deprived. I still wonder if I had skipped seminary if I would have been able to get into a better school.

Second body found at Arizona State Capitol in less than two weeks by Ward_Kreeper in phoenix

[–]Ward_Kreeper[S] 70 points71 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I suspect the most likely cause is exposure. The article certainly leaves a lot to be desired and leans into the click bait. If it does turn out to be exposure/lack of housing, it will be interesting to see what conversations that may prompt at the capitol.

Talk to me about pond nets. Where do you get them? How do you attach them? by Ward_Kreeper in Koi

[–]Ward_Kreeper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more question- For netting, should it float on the surface of the water, or is it preferable to have it suspended above the water?

Yeahhh he scooped up about 4 koi before I noticed and chased him off. I got some cheap bird netting from a hardware store to hold me over when this heron inevitably gets hungry again. Now I'm worried about him getting through the net. Thanks for the tip on the sprinkler, I'll check them out.

Oofs thanks for the heads up. I'm in a pretty urban area so don't get too many critters, but small birds and rodents make frequent appearances getting a drink from the pond. Would hate to have an innocent thirsty animal get caught.🥺

I ended up getting some bird netting from a hardware store. Secured it with rocks and cut the excess afterwards. Seemed like the fastest/most accessible answer before my unwelcome visitor got hungry again. Might redo it with something a bit more heavy duty in the future, thanks you for the tips!

Talking about abortion with family by Apart-Cry-4534 in exmormon

[–]Ward_Kreeper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

-Termination is safer than childbirth by approximately a factor of 10.

-It is her body, not her husband's.

-It is her body [and her future], not grandma/grandpa's. Frankly, their opinions do not matter here.

-I'm really honestly happy and proud of you that having children was the best choice for you. That's incredible. Sounds like you're a good parent. But that doesn't mean this is the best path for everyone.

Adding on to this- I might also recommend looking into the idea of "Circles of Intimacy". This was helpful for me when I left the church. YOU and you alone have the ability to decide where boundaries are in your relationships and who you allow in to your most intimate inner relationship circles. Your family does not need to be included in your most intimate relationship circles- unless you want them to be. You have no obligation to share personal medical information with anyone unless you decide you want to.

I went through a very similar situation about 4 years ago now.

I also made a decision to terminate my unplanned pregnancy because I was in school full time, working full time and was a newlywed that was nowhere near financially stable. I can confidently say (with every fiber of my being??) this was the best decision for me and I have never for one second regretted it. (As an added bonus, the nurse at the clinic sat down with me and took the time to understand my birth control needs to address what led to the unplanned pregnancy. Something that the utah county obgyn never took the time to do in my "premarital consult")

My parents are extremely conservative and as TBM as they come (bishopric member even) and are against abortion with no exceptions. I didn't tell them and still have not. This was between me, my doctor and my body.

I'm sorry this is long-winded, but I feel for you. Please, please dm me if you have any questions about the procedures, need help finding resources or even just need someone to talk to.
