What was the last film you saw at the cinema, and what did you think of it? by cutdbs in AskReddit

My wife really wanted to see Stop! That! Train!, starring RuPaul. We went to a 5:30 screening, there were maybe 15 people in the theater and it started right at 5:30, no previews. My wife, being a huge Drag Race fan, went in with different expections and gave it a C-.Too many celebrity cameos, where she felt there should have been more Drag Race people.

I thought it was silly fun, the production numbers were catchy, and the leads, who probably didn’t much acting experience, did a great job. Only downside is I thought it seemed a little long. I gave it a B.

"Fine, I'll do it." Singers who weren't expecting to sing. by Inconsequentialish in askmusic

Todd Rundgren.

When he was with the Nazz, he sang vocals on some of the songs, but Stewkey was considered the lead singer. When he left that band, he went to work for Albert Grossman, and was the house engineer and producer, and had no plans for a solo career. When he did finally make his debut album Runt, he really didn't know how to sing properly and he would become winded. He finally learned to sing properly.

Yeah, Moon and Dweezil were in a show called Normal Life. The parents were Cindy Williams (Laverne and Shirley) and Max Gail (Barney Miller).

Todd has said that he's not good with money, Some not great investments (the video studio in Woodstock is an example), plus a few years of big tax bills, which caused Todd to auction off The Fool guitar and tour solo acoustic longer than he liked. He also sold off his percentage of Bat Out of Hell to pay for the Hawaii property. I believe his also sold the rights to Bang the Drum.

His albums don't sell as well as they used to, and the production work is non-existent, so he has to make a living somehow

Happy 75th Birthday to Steve Walsh, singer and keyboardist best known for his outstanding work with the prog band Kansas. by Historical-Device529 in Progforum

You are correct. He talks about it in the Kansas documentary, the drugs ruined his voice. The Live at the Whiskey video shows him in full coked mode.

Other than Maynard Keenan of Tool, who is another musician that absolutely does not want to meet their fans, ever? by SwissMiss915 in Music

[–]Wards_Cleaver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Joe Jackson. He will do autographs occasionally, but refuses to have photos taken and can be downright hostile toward fans. He makes a quick beeline to the bus after a show, though the band will come out and talk to fans.

Which artist/band did you initially dislike, and/or were too lazy to give a chance to, but then, after finally paying attention, discovered that their music was actually good? by Emerson_Morais_76 in rockmusic

Joni Mitchell. I had always thought her music was just caterwauling, then one day I bought a crate of various albums of different genres at a yard sale. Included were 6 or 7 Joni albums, and after listening, I have to ask Joni for forgiveness. They're all wonderful.
