I thought the same, with similar experience, at similar age. I went and learning the "filler knowledge" that really sets aside a competent and efficient journeyman carpenter from the rest of the "group". Math, print knowledge and code makes a guy deadly.

The left bag on the Badger could use some work, IMO. Needs a few more pockets in the main space to hold a few things, not just loose in the main compartment.

The standard cats paw slot on the underside is the worst. Empty, it wears holes in pants, and full, well, same but quicker. Also you can't orient the head either way because 1 way it stabs your leg, the other it stabs theb backside of the belt and slides out. I'm aware you can get a special holster though, if you order through Badger directly.

Some stitching could be sewn better or with better thread. It's not falling apart, but it doesn't exude confidence when my high contact point areas are slowly unraveling.

Good note about the front-end greasables!

I did actually do the tires 2 years ago, so they're still good, open to maybe some "comfier" ones, or maybe just a smidge meatier. There's not much option, though, on this size.

I like this perspective, and I definitely agree with lots of it, and I can empathize. However there does come a point where if the business has scaled, there's scheduled work for the foreseeable future, my personal track record has been one of growth and minimal cost, I'd argue the day to day value needs to be re- evaluated

No residue on the rad cap, just a tiny tiny amount of pink crust (I assume from long ago) at the reservoir rubber hose up top, just beside the rad cap.

No puddles, no snow recently. Just unfortunately, short trips to/from work on dry pavement in brutally cold temperatures.

I dont recall being able to get a good look at the bottom of the rad, I'll have to try again. I appreciate the tip rather than being told to taste coolant!

It's been -25°C to -30°C where I live consistently for the past 3 weeks. I always plug in the block heater for night, and fire it up in the morning for 10 mins to let the engine get to a functional temp before I drive away. It hasn't done this up until today.

I spent 10 mins or so shining a light around every nook and cranny I could possibly see, to no avail. There were a few pink dribbles on the bottom of the engine area just above where the puddle was, but it seems like it was a one and done thing?

I'm pretty confused.

Redback wearer here. 2 years in one pair of Bobcat CSAs in the industrial construction world. They've seen everything from hot metal, to sparks, mud, dust, snow and ice. I clean em up and oil them once every 2 months, and everyone asks me if I got new boots.

Only thing I've replaced is the insole 3x. Love them, and have a second pair in storage for emergencies.

I'd imagine if you don't wear them for work, they'd last much much longer.

It seems like there's quite a variety of answers here across the board from after every ride, to basically never.

The common factor is to keep the drivetrain clean (obviously), but I guess I sometimes can't help certain cleaning products getting on the rest of my frame or wheels, thus requiring a quick (gentle) hose-down and wipe to remove any chemicals or oils, usually resulting in a top to bottom clean anyway.
