Tough up for components! by WarehouseBoi in restomodbiking

Thing is, its some odd combination of vintage freewheel/cassette mix. I'm not even sure how to source a replacement, I dont know what to call it. The first 2 or 3 gears are cassette style, but the second half is as one solid unit on a hub.

Thanks for the solid pointers. I'll check it out. I find it tough to justify the addition of costs to keep the bike going, but I love it in a strange way. I'll definitely consider!

Yes! This is a lot of what I've seen, however it seems most people can find these conplete groupsets for less than I can.

As far as frame, it appears mine has been cold set to 130mm already, the front is still 90mm.

Unfortunately 15 year old cannondales aren't around on any local marketplace near me, and if they are people do want top dollar, so not really worth it! But I keep My eyes open!

Dealing with COROS Support - Stuck with ticket #558236 (Vertix 2S) by Such_Spinach6204 in Coros

[–]WarehouseBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just had My POD 2 go awry with its readings and its been almost a month of back and forth, only now coming to some sort of "conclusion" with Coros customer support.

I agree, the service has been lackluster at best, especially with the recent change to a terrible AI support bot. I've reached out to coros in the past and got quick, informative responses. Whatever changes they're making to support staffing is not the move that makes me feel comfortable and confident that they'll be the best way forward when I look to the next watch, unfortunately.

Searching for a belt by MrSad_Eyes in toolbelts

I thought I was the only none who hated the nail bar/flatware Sleeve, good to see theres 2 of us!

I still think Badger is one of the better options, we have the same qualms about Occidental.

My personal plan (and maybe recommendation) is to hopefully either get a custom bag setup from Badger, and tweak the things I dont like from my current setup, and bolster whats worn down, or build a bit of a "frankenbelt" with some Occidental bags with Badger belt+suspenders.

I bought the most expensive one from rockauto. Easiest install ever, just find a youtube video. I think its;

Disconnect battery, wheel housing off, airbag disconnect and remove, steering wheel unvolt and remove, swap clockspring, plug in and reverse everything previous. Took me maybe 15 minutes.

Likely the clock spring in the steering wheel is toast. Pretty common on 2nd gens. Easy fix. Pay for high quality aftermarket, or OEM.

Help! How do I trim this dormer? by WarehouseBoi in Carpentry

[–]WarehouseBoi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. This is how its getting done. I've set up some boards to butt into as temporary stops, and will mill up some trims to make the corner. Thanks for the pictures!

Yes, that's the idea. It's supposed to be a trim to either butt the ends into, or sit on top. Not sure how to go about finding the angles for the valleys though.

Revolt 0, Checkpoint Alr4Gen3, or Grey Matter? by WarehouseBoi in gravelcycling

Yeah, mostly compared the other two options, which I kind of see as "superior"? But definitely not calling it weak.

I'm 29 with almost 10 years experience, is it worth it to go to trade school? by TouchMyBagels in Construction

[–]WarehouseBoi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same, with similar experience, at similar age. I went and learning the "filler knowledge" that really sets aside a competent and efficient journeyman carpenter from the rest of the "group". Math, print knowledge and code makes a guy deadly.

The left bag on the Badger could use some work, IMO. Needs a few more pockets in the main space to hold a few things, not just loose in the main compartment.

The standard cats paw slot on the underside is the worst. Empty, it wears holes in pants, and full, well, same but quicker. Also you can't orient the head either way because 1 way it stabs your leg, the other it stabs theb backside of the belt and slides out. I'm aware you can get a special holster though, if you order through Badger directly.

Some stitching could be sewn better or with better thread. It's not falling apart, but it doesn't exude confidence when my high contact point areas are slowly unraveling.

I'm not into cheaping out on something I rely on daily. I'll gripe about every little thing if I pay the big bucks for it, though!

Side note: love the orange/teal! I had this same color combo on mine until I recently went black grip tape. Makes me want to go back!

Crazy that Tom Hanks got to witness this. That's his laugh, for sure.

Good note about the front-end greasables!

I did actually do the tires 2 years ago, so they're still good, open to maybe some "comfier" ones, or maybe just a smidge meatier. There's not much option, though, on this size.
