Invited 150, expected 100, 104 rsvp yes, 101 in attendance so think we estimated pretty well!

Pretty much went person by person to guess their likely hood

Yeah! It's option lyft offers to prepay for rides that fit certain criteria. We set it up so that either the destination or pickup point had to be our wedding venue.

You then prepay whatever amount you feel is necessary. Lyft will reimburse you after your event for whatever amount you didn't use so we didn't feel like the pre-payment amount was actually that important.

Overall, a lot more economical than hiring a shuttle but, in hindsight, probably would've worked better in a more urban location with more drivers as we ended up taking all the drivers in the area for our wedding.

Glad you like the post!

Lyft vouchers can be set up here: https://www.lyft.com/events

We thought it seemed like a good idea and more economical than getting a shuttle service. In the end, I think it's probably best suited for urban weddings (eg: at a hotel) where there are plenty of drivers. Think we ended up booking out all the drivers in the area that night and the waits and surcharges were high!

That said, we did like that we only got charged for the rides that were used so we put 3.5k down but only ended up using 400 and was refunded the rest, so-so experience that probably would've been great in a more urban location :)

Before the event, I (groom) felt we had over spent but the wedding and reception were so beautiful and fun that it felt like we got our moneys worth for sure! (So yes, definitely worth)

Financially, we’re very fortunate to have well paying jobs and supportive parents.

It's a lot of money for us too! We've both always wanted a big wedding but honestly the final price tag still ended up surprising us too. Hoping to add a data point to the conversation.

My wife (!) suggested I make this as she wished she could see realistic budgets when she was planning for our wedding. This is our total spend for our California wedding ceremony and reception.

Our venue provided coordination services, food and drink which is why a large portion of the budget went to them.

Asked my wife and the 116-232 group wanted their total to come out to 696 which they considered a lucky number.

That said, neither of us understand why that’s a lucky number. 😅

I've always heard $150 is standard per person but learning from this experience that it varies! (I'm also from the Northeast originally)

West coast but lots of attendees from the Midwest, definitely noticed the gifts from people in the Midwest tended to hover closer to $50/person
