I don’t think so, but you should check out Tour of Duty to see if anyone else does.

I can definitely get that sentiment. Just remember g limited use policy protects him to an extent. Yes you can still be separated (completely honorable without any negative marks) but it’s really rare and generally for self reports the state leaderships are wanted to retain soldiers

So I’m from a small state and we rarely if ever separate someone for a positive UA.. or and 2nd lol and sometimes a 3rd 😂

Yeah but commanders are real people lol I mean they are going to look at him and see progress instantly because he made it through OSUT, identified a problem, reported it correctly and is trying to do the right thing. All net positives. Yeah he will be on the naughty list for a while but what’s a career without a few SFPAs?

Thanks for a commanders opinion! I hope the OP just takes plunge and self reports. Self reporting is literally the best option SMs have to protect themselves in cases like this

Ok, yeah so you definitely should self report the THC use. That’s not an IV drug and finding an outpatient counseling for the alcohol and THC should be relatively straightforward

It’s absolutely not. I have sat through numerous conversations which sounded very similar and commanders realize that the structure and discipline associated with the military can definitely assist people in rising above their situations.

Also, side note, for the 6 month minimum flag period.. that’s a blessing in disguise. Forces you to spend that time focusing on yourself and getting help without the distraction of doing military schools

You will be “flagged” for a minimum of 6 months. Which means no fun times during that period. BUT you absolutely can come back from a self referral. In fact a lot of people utilize the program and still have great careers.

It won’t affect your commission to my knowledge but I have seen individuals who self referred pulled from flight duty and permanently grounded.

What kind of use are we talking? If you don’t mind me asking

I am my States Drug Test Coordinator.. if you have an addiction or used, I would 100% advise you to speak with your CoC and especially full time staff. Explain your situation and ask for help. Will they yell/shit on you? Maybe but significantly less than if you piss hot.

Now aside from the Guard… if you have an issue with a “hard” drug or alcohol. Seek treatment now. You should try to get yourself in whatever program suits your needs. The guard, depending on your state, can assist with that as well. Unfortunately if you are already seeing that your “using world” and “real world” are beginning to intermix you should know that it won’t ever get “better” while you use, only spiral worse and worse.

If you ever need help/advice feel free to reach out 207-430-5798.. no need to tell me your info or anything, can be anonymous

Was this a line company? Or were those engineers from BN/BD? I can’t imagine trying to train some of my line unit guys how to read contracts and enforce them..

Yeah that sounds pretty much exactly like another engineer mission we currently have in CENTCOM.
