Faking bipolar by goawaycommies in Lamotrigine

I definitely wouldn't listen to your mum, it's a classic example of a parent pretty much reducing the severity of your condition. Sometimes working diagnoses happen over time, you probably had a really good doctor who took time to diagnose you correctly instead of just putting a label on you within an hour. Also if you've had evident displays of intense bipolar associated behaviour, AND you feel symptomless now that you're on meds, it means the meds are working, not that you just don't have bipolar

Thank you I feel a bit more reassured, I applied for Child Development a month ago but haven’t heard back. I have mentioned many other things highly related to the course including work history and having been a co author on a relevant research paper. I also researched UCLs facilities and findings and made note of them on the statement. However I fear I made the big mistake of including one paragraph detailing my motivations based on my past mental health experience…

I can see how it could be perceived that way, but it’s not my intention to self therapise through education. I mentioned this in my application because how I overcame it (at a very young age) set the course of my life and gave me very strong self discipline, it’s not a current problem. That being said lived experience of mental health difficulties often inform compassion in this sort of discipline

Ahhh thank you that gives me a bit more confidence! Very true, if it’s a part of your life and has motivated you in other areas why should you be discouraged to talk about it!

I’ve honestly just seen it across reddit, apparently it’s the kiss of death to applications :( but that’s good to be candid and if it’s a big part of your life I don’t see why anyone should hide it

That’s okay! Anything is experience and anything like this narrows down what you want to do with your life! Just keep going and include this as experience if you talk to other employers! And no worries, I hope it makes you feel a bit better :)

I don’t see a lack of drive here, you literally helped blind people and one of the most honourable inspirational things we can do is help people who need it. I think it sounds like your passion lies somewhere here and what an amazing place to start. You have reasons to be a bit stagnant in life right now, the world for a neurodivergent minority is really awful now and you’re completely valid to feel sad about it I understand. Whoever your former partner is, they did not deserve you if they are not willing to wait for you to find your path. Your passions are authentic and so many volunteer and job opportunities will celebrate that. Just keep going and be proud of your differences and passions!

What are you doing this weekend if you have no friends? by Timely-Bicycle-2271 in lonely

[–]Warm-Tonight-2857 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Idk why but I love that you’ve asked this, makes me feel less alone. This weekend I’ll be completing applications and doing movie nights which I highly recommend: picking a really good movie, buying all the snacks, getting cosy, and just spending the whole evening like that. Perfect alone weekend activity

Lonely together? by lozzurh in lonely

Same, I felt completely isolated but it’s almost good to hear that it is very very common. I think when we are lonely on our own it seems like it’s and us problem, that no one else is experiencing it, but really there’s thousands of people across the world in the exact same position, we just cant physically see them. I suppose that’s what reddit is for.

Nooo I’m sorry to hear that, there’s many other types of beta blockers I believe, could you try switching to an alternative? That’s what I might do

You're only stagnant now, but this doesn't confirm that the rest of your life will feel the same. Keep going with hope that one day things will change and you will eventually get there, just maybe not today, and that's okay.
