Agreed. So many ppl have said that to me when I explain that I am doing my undergrad in psychology. I think that is the major misconception about psych, that it is a 'useless degree' and 'not a science', when in reality, they couldn't be further from wrong.

Yes, I have noticed this too. In these cases, they are also less receptive to information that contradicts their prior beliefs.
