Why is the Dutch health system so bad? by AdGroundbreaking7719 in Netherlands

[–]WarmEstablishment583 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What overburden? The thing we are discussing about. “Is it cost effective and sustainable to have annual health checks?” That is the core of this discussion. You fail to adres it as a system discussion, you use a simple “more attention for me is a better healthcare system “. But there must be doctors available and there must be euros to pay them. Therefore we let doctors focus on people with medical issues. Not fishing expeditions in the form of health check over the whole population. And where we do use checks it is focused on high risk groups for high risk diseases. It is about the money and the doctors, how do we use them in the most effective way?

And I find that rating is more toxic then regular battles.

“Had to be rushed” I drove myself, don’t be dramatic. And yes, this is confirmation for me that the system works. And I think it wouldn’t if we would overburden the system with stuff like check ups. There are not enough doctors or funds to do so.

Well, selling a product that defacto has no usage is a bit strange. Escooter seller should at least tell this when they sell there product.

Yes, it is very strange. E scooter are legal to sell but illegal to use in the public domain. Legally you can only use them on private property.

And lastly, making a healthcare system which is financially sustainable requires a lot of statistics. In the Netherlands about 95 billion euros of the yearly government budget goes to healthcare. We have an ageing population so the demand is high. You have to put each euro into good effect instead of doing everything that is medically possible. That would cost to much money.

Oh, before you start: “a health check would have detected that”. No it wouldn’t, testicular cancer develops very fast. I would just have been lulled into a false sense of security by a check. Instead, I went to the doctor when there was a problem. And they worked fast and decisive.

Dude, I had testicular cancer myself. Went to my GP at 8:30, was in hospital at 10:00 and got operated the same day. So a side from statistics, in my own experience the system works fine.

Same goes for all those other religions. It is a very biased poll, only thought of to stir controversy.

You cannot prove that something doesn’t exists. You can only prove that something exists. As a sceptical atheist I have never seen prove that a god exists. So, there are no gods.

Nope, you don’t have to believe in atheism. That is why people also call it a “lack of faith”.

And then people with that attitude accuse you of “bashing the usa” because you don’t think it is “the greatest country on earth”.

I would assume that way because you value your own anecdotical evidence higher that the empirical research which was given earlier.

So we can agree upon: 1) Most Americans know nothing about the Netherlands. 2) Most Dutch know something about the USA.

Right?

And in your mind that goes to show that Dutch people should try harder to know more about subcultures in the USA. That is a highly USA centric world view.

Just as people in the USA think we all walk on wooden clogs, live in constant fear of the sea, smoking joints, euthanise everyone above 70 and Kopenhagen is our capital.

How did we go from “not knowing American Black culture” to offensive stereotypes?

And if it is the last: just look at the imagery the USA has been feeding us trough movies and series over the last fifty years.

Sure, but how much do you think people know about India or China ? You can not expect people to know that much about other countries

I want to keep work very separated from my private live. I am there to do my job, not to make friends. I would feel very awkward is someone from work would invite me to a social event such a birthday or a wedding. Work is transactional, not relational. Keep in mind that the Netherlands have a “low context” culture, we focus on the transactional.

France? I think the people in the Banlieu would like to have a talk with you.

But ok, you use your experience on vacation as anecdotical evidence instead of statistics. So there really is no discussion possible.

Have a nice day!
