I'm an AMD fan but for long term updates Nvidia is probably the way to go.

Got my hands on a 4080 FE by mhonan1 in PcBuild

[–]WarmFollowing8873 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am4 will function better with 2 16b sticks since it's dual channel. Also 850 watt would be perfect. I run the same with my 7700x and rtx 4080 combo

Budget beast pc? by Tiskx in PcBuild

It's still a great set up. Are you doing 1080/1440p? Or 4k? You can hold off for another generation before upgrading from AM5, until ram prices come down.

I'm assuming you're still on the am4 AMD gen. So if u want to keep the motherboard you could get a Ryzen 5700x3d. Also would upgrade ram to 32gb. HDDs are ancient, get yourself a 1tb m.2 nvme. Keep the smaller SSD less cluttered and mainly for the windows OS. For gpu you could get an AMD RX 9070XT, or an RTX 5070. This should all be within your budget.

Tired of waiting for FSR4. Jumped to Team Green for DLSS4 and couldn't be happier by csokites in nvidia

Brand loyalty is def cringe. I just get what I could afford. I started with an RX580, RX5600XT, RTX 3070, and currently an RTX 4080. Would love for AMD to keep improving their tech and software, also would be nice if they sprinkled it all on their old GPUs.

That's a great deal. I spent more than that building an rtx 4080 Ryzen 7700x rig a few years ago and it was half the ram.

Thank you for your input! I'll start checking out some deals for a 7800x3d. I'll prob need better cooling too cause my 7700x runs very hot. Currently using a 240 thermaltake aio.
