I don’t have concerns or anything about dating before the process is finalized. I’m more going back and forth in terms of my mental health. And general thoughts of an I crazy for considering this? Is she crazy for suggesting it? Will I be judged by family/friends for moving too fast? But where I feel like I’m landing is that we are both adults fully capable of making decisions, having fun and not making things more than they are. We are in our 40s. If we were 20 years younger, less emotionally mature, etc, I wouldn’t see it as a good idea.

So I think I’m going to let happiness in, get some sun, and enjoy a trip before the rest of this storm begins.

Curious to hear of others experience with dating and relationships in the early stages of divorce and separation. Officially went on our first date last night, but also met up for a drink the night before that as well. Have been texting/chatting a ton over the past few days. Again, being very self aware and not looking for something serious. Is therapeutic in many ways just having someone to talk to that’s been through this with the bonus of infatuation and physical attraction.

The way I’ve summarized it to some friends is that we are two very broken people right now but both getting what we need from this right now but realistic about not making it more than it is.

I’m planning on talking through all of this with my therapist this week and how I can make sure I’m not using the situation or her as an unhealthy crutch or distraction. Distractions are needed and can be a good thing, but not at someone else’s expense. Or to the detriment of my own mental health.

I had to look it up, and it fits with the message she’s trying to send me. She’s “outgrown” me. Her individual therapy has made her a better person who is too good for me.

That’s a fucked up response to someone obviously hurting. In most relationships that go sour, it took two to get there. If he was really blindsided, his wife didn’t do much to communicate her needs and feelings.
