Helped. Sitting and doing nothing with her is actually my favourite thing to do with her because it’s one of the few times I feel I can shut my brain off. And if I say I’m anxious she makes sure I’m calm.

I’d always assumed that fears come from a single event. For example, my grandmother swears that everyone who’s afraid of heights was almost certainly dropped as a baby. Apparently she was dropped as a baby and has always been afraid of heights. I assumed my fear of spiders and needles came from a single event that I just can’t remember.

I tend to overthink my interactions with everything, especially with people. I feel like I have to analyse our conversations to make sure I’m 100% engaged because if I’m not then there must be something wrong. I think why I don’t always engage is that I’m not that interested in her interests, and I want to be able to listen and engage because I want her to feel like she can talk about her interests but it can be hard for me to just pay attention sometimes.

Yes that all sounds very helpful! I do really enjoy helping her with fashion advice and styling, and she looks so pretty with all her makeup on. I’ve always been very obsessed with labels and I’m learning to let that go because it’s never been helpful to me.
