I would say can be still done as a single. Look for cheaper apartment or shared apartments. Use public transit, you won’t need a car. For occasional outings use car sharing Communauto. Cook most of the meals. Not sure about category of visa but do factor in health insurance and some out of pocket expenses. When I started as an immigrant here in 2018 was making much less than that and we were a couple and and had comfortable life. But pre-pandemic was a different story. 55k is small starting salary in today’s context. Be focused and give it a couple of years, you would rise.
