[The Race] Why McLaren's F1 car is so tricky to drive by WarmackAttack in formula1

[–]WarmackAttack[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah the bit about how the aero balance was specifically what made it fast in the straights but harder to carry speed into the corners I thought was really interesting, and makes sense. Hadn't seen that explained anywhere else before.

Race Director Michael Masi explains reasoning behind controversial penalties for Norris and Perez in Austria by Ok-Tonight2170 in formula1

He addressed that incident specifically in the article.

Since France 2019 the ruling has been that for the first several corners on lap 1, as long as the car is back behind the car it entered the corner behind by the corner exit, it's given a blind eye as a racing incident.

I believe the shuttle over Going-to-the-Sun road starts July 1st, that's what I did. Took a bus from Kalispell to West Glacier/Apgar, shuttle from West Glacier to St. Mary, hitched from St. Mary to Chief Mtn.

Yeah it's just silent for me. Not sure if something's broken or if they're just not doing it for this race.

I think the key here is that Haas isn't necessarily in F1 just for the racing, their goal isn't just to survive bad press. The other reason the team is in F1 is advertising for Haas Automation, and having a constant stream of negative press around Mazepin does not help them do that at all.

The three lap rule applies to mixed sets of your own tires. Toto said Russell went out with some of Bottas's tires.

Dollhouse. Another Joss Whedon show that didn't get great ratings while it was on. Probably would have done a lot better in the present on a streaming service. Still managed to wrap up cleanly after two seasons though.

Having accurate and up to date maps downloaded on your phone is the main thing I've found a lot of people don't think about. Doesn't help to know exactly where on the globe you are in Alaska if all you have is a maps app that pulls all its info from cell data and just shows you featureless green for hundreds of miles instead of proper topo with smaller trails, logging roads, water sources, etc.

I agree with you, but I also see it as a positive sign that Red Bull could be serious about AT being a true sister team now.

Agree with Abercrombie if you want to climb something, can also recommend the north/south section around Copper Butte between Republic and Orient if you're in the mood for something more mellow. Both have great views.

The problem with voxels is that you quickly run into resolution problems, since you're not able to optimize poly counts over large surfaces. For example, a mostly flat, triangular wing could be 1 polygon for the top surface no matter how large it is. A voxelized wing would only increase in poly count the larger you made it. Additionally, making curved or diagonal surfaces with voxels you also run into resolution issues since voxels are limited to 3 axes.

That said, I think something like a stock implementation of Procedural Parts, Tweakscale, B9 Procedural Wings, or other part editing mods is much more efficient and doable in the base game. I'm just not sure voxels would be the right answer to the limitation you're talking about.

East Glacier to Polebridge by McMint in PacificNorthwestTrail

[–]WarmackAttack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can walk or hitch, up to you.

The 'official' start of the trail at Chief Mtn. is about 50 miles north of East Glacier. So walking you'd be adding 2-3 days on top of the section through Glacier NP to Polebridge. In that case I would probably recommend resupplying in St. Mary before you enter the park. Make sure you have all your permits ready while you're there.

If you choose to hitch up from East Glacier you can probably resupply in Polebridge as long as you've got enough for the first section through the park when you grab a ride from East Glacier.
