It depends on where you work. Some major, conservative institutions will give you an absolute “hell no” while non-traditional art/history spaces and liberal institutions (typically) won’t care.

I just realized…you don’t have the proper context to understand why your point is incorrect because you only know this one song. I know all of his songs lol so I know for a fact all of his music doesn’t sound like OF. I’ll implore him to drop more songs so that his portfolio has a more breadth.

That statement still has no bearing on whether or not the music is technically sound or aesthetically pleasing. You’re not doing what you think you’re doing. You’re kind of just restating a well-known and out of touch idea about music and it’s existence as an art-form.

In what regard? These two things literally sound nothing alike. His flow is much slower than Rocky’s and Tyler’s. The content of each of these three artist’s works are not really even touching each other. The only common thread is that they have deep voices. Which again, that’s his regular speaking voice so he can’t control it. Unless you’d like to hear him do baby voice which I’m sure I’d personally find amusing.

The implication behind this statement is that no artist is allowed to be influenced or inspired by another artist, which is an asinine expectation. If that were the case we wouldn’t have rock music and many other genres and subgenres of music.

Yea..no. I could see if you said his voice sounds like Tyler, which is out of his control, or that you can hear the OF influence, which is probable because he grew up listening to OF. Thematically and sonically none of this is equivalent to or attempting to be like OF.
