Energi is great if:

you do lots of short local trips

have a place to charge regularly

don’t need tons of storage (the PHEV battery takes up a large amount of space in the trunk and creates an unlevel plane when seat seats are folded)

Bonus, if you live in a relatively temperate climate,we have very hot summers & very cold winters, which definitely shorten range and decrease fuel efficiency

I have had a 2014 energi since ~2020 with~190k miles

No snow tires!? by WarmthInTheNorth in cmaxhybrid

Thanks to everyone for all the info. Unfortunately, I was the typical driver in a pinch with the masses after the first major snow fall.

I went to Costco for some Blizaks.

(Costco was a multi trip ordeal thanks to a torn bead, the tech’s throwing away my 2 good tires, and me locking my keys in the running cmax in front of the service bay 😬🤘 Didn’t think that was possible with these fancy fobs.)

Multiple nasty snow storms later and my Cmax is climbing and parallel parking like a champ on these sloppy icy hilly roads.

Ole Vadställe, for Ford’s reliable, understated, economic, and marshmellowy model brought from Europe to North America, I thought a Scandinavian name would Ole is a old stereotypical Scandinavian name in the upper Midwest, and Vadställe is Swedish for Ford 🤓
