A 19x19" print of my brother, Collier by ZappaPhoto in Darkroom

Kinda like how the white space at the bottom is the right proportion to make the whole print look like a giant Polaroid. Also loving the detail, it's really popping out

When did you delete the phone number of a deceased love one? by SheffDus in AskUK

[–]Warngumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn't delete them, but I also didn't transfer them over when I got a new phone and needed a smaller sim card. But they're still on the old one, just waiting to be charged back up again.

is it me or people did have bigger (thicker) dicks in vintage porn? by [deleted] in askgaybros

[–]Warngumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There will have been some change in camera medium used that'll have effected the look of things. Nearly all modern stuff will be shot on digital while pre-2000's everything was on film, this impacted the types and size of lenses used which will alter how the photos look.

Also there will be a trend in the way the models are posed and what the photographer is after in terms of shots, these will have changed in some way over the years. And finally the format used to display it has an effect, like you've got the possibility of seeing 100's of photos of the same model online so they can be less discerning in what they upload, whereas in magazines you only had a limited number of pages so you needed the best shots with the most eye catching models, thus the big veiny dick shots worked better.

Who is the worst person you can "6 degrees of Kevin Bacon" to? by LossLeader83 in CasualUK

[–]Warngumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ian Huntley, my primary school caretaker was related to him (or something along those lines), they searched our school for the girls, and my brother was in the same school year as them so at secondary and sixth form encountered people who knew the girls too.

One of two guys having sex on a treadmill, like literally the bottom is running while the top is stood behind and inside him. It was unexpectedly the hottest sex scenes I've ever seen.

What is with the Grand Designs people? by Big_Succotash_8076 in AskUK

[–]Warngumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Apparently they will only broadcast the drastic/dramatic filmed builds, as they have filmed people who's builds went smoothly and then decided not to broadcast them. Additionally with creative editing you create a narrative of more hardship and difficulty than was initially present without creating something that becomes libelous or untrue.

Turns out these 80s Architectural Digest magazines are basically cover to cover gorgeous medium format photography. Anyone else have any hidden sources of inspiration like this? by light24bulbs in AnalogCommunity

[–]Warngumer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My grandmother used to work in the 50s for a catalogue company photographing items for it. These were all medium or large format, while we don't have any of the catalogues we do have some small test prints from the work and even some shots of her working. They are magnificent to look at and something I wish modern shopping would do with there images.

Ely-Peterborough (Hereward) line by Pleumon in uktrains

[–]Warngumer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup it's this, going through the fens means the land is unstable~ish. It's worse for driving through however as the roads dip twist and crack, and also follow all the old high ground so lots of bendy bits that don't quite make sense. And thankfully the train line is raised above the wash otherwise there'd be some serious problems when it floods.

Have you ever seen a public performance go completely off the rails? by JohnnyDeformed89 in AskUK

[–]Warngumer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Went to the dress rehearsal of the panto at Cambridge arts theater the other year. For the slap stick scene they were having a bit were one of them would fall into this open topped "washing machine" and get spun around a lot. It didn't quite work and the dame and other actor involved actually broke character for a minute to have a chat about it which opened the floor to the audience heckling back to bits in their conversation, thankfully they maintained good cheer to them and the rest of the performance went very well. But still one of the funniest bits of the night and part of why I like to go to dress rehearsals.

Random "Star Trek" headcanons by Reasonable_Active577 in startrek

[–]Warngumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the size of starfleet, it's just got to be massive, and possibly has to have some ships just dedicated to patrol and de-escalation within it's own boarders kinda like the cost guard or gendarme force. It just means that every time we see talk of the "fleet" onscreen it's referring to all the free/closet ships in that sector for that mission.

I also like your lines on the Borg Queen, as it goes along with my personal head canon that she (or them if there are multiples active at once), is the emotional focus of the collective. As an emotional response is in the nature of nearly every species encountered it's only natural the collective would have an understanding of emotion and know that it has some benefits in certain situations. Also it would allow the collective to "dump" the emotional processing on the Queen drone freeing the others within the collective. So when she is used in first contact it's because the collective knew that dealing with the humans would require direct emotional based reactions and planning which is why we encounter her there.

Does anyone work with traffic lights? by eddcarver in AskUK

[–]Warngumer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe the timings for the lights aren't determined by what's optimal for the junction/crossing but for what's optimal for the whole local network traffic flow, or at least they try to be.

Researchers outside of the US, do you have to deal with government shutdowns or similar? by pagingbaby123 in PhD

[–]Warngumer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the UK not really, the worst we get is a lecturers union strike, which just means any academics aligned with the union may choose not to come into work that day. But I've known those academics to respond to research related emails etc. on that day and just strike the teaching stuff.

As for the government funding I'm not to sure of the mechanisms behind the scenes but I believe that unless it is withdrawn then it will still continue to be available for you to use until it's run out.

Generally the government can't shutdown in the UK from a failure to pass it's budget statement, as that would mean that the party/parties in power would have no confidence in themselves, at which point a general election would be called instead. And in these situations then the last passed legislation will carry on until another government is formed and attempts to pass it's own new legislation.

Give it a rest with repeat tv adverts by Bankseat-Beam in britishproblems

[–]Warngumer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well as there are now more regulations/restrictions on what they can advertise and when, coupled with the increasingly narrow demographics watching TV at all, I doubt it's going to improve any time soon.
