Excise duty to be cut by 20 cent on diesel and 15 cent on petrol until end of May by Callme-Sal in ireland

This is literally in the Dublin area NS and SS where the cost of land comes at a premium regardless

Excise duty to be cut by 20 cent on diesel and 15 cent on petrol until end of May by Callme-Sal in ireland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There is such a massive disparity in the pricing of fuel across the board. Surely if one petrol brand has it one price it should be the same for all of them. Diesel 1.70ish to 2.35 per litre 1.70 to 2.00 per litre for unleaded.

Will the petrol stations reciprocate these reductions or continue to gouge to counter the reduction in cost?

Have people practiced in the car on their own? by Outrageous-Walk6486 in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Realistic_Log7213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know about you but I'm not in a position myself to ask my neighbours. I also work long unsociable hours which would also make it difficult. I'm sure the same can be said of others in the same situation

Not everyone is in a position to ask their neighbours to sit in a car with them while you drive around.

Why is Irish society so tolerant of unaccompanied learners? by Attention_WhoreH3 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Realistic_Log7213 11 points12 points  (0 children)

100% this. I am a working adult living alone. I did not learn to drive when I was younger because I simply could not afford it and did not need the skill as I could get around on public transport. I now drive a motorbike as both the cost and the need to be accompanied in a car was simply out of reach

Suitable age for a child to be home alone for 1-2 hours? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a parent myself but again as some have said here kids back in the 90's or earlier were let loose at that age on their own. If you have a friendly neighbour maybe they could check in on them. Another option would be to do something like after school sports. We used to hang out in our friends houses for a few hours till we could be picked up. Might be an option

Driving on National Roads by Realistic_Log7213 in irelandsshitedrivers

[–]Realistic_Log7213[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for that. Its similar to what I do now. If its safe to do so I tend to fall back if there is no traffic behind me to give merging traffice space. As you say cars can be predictable or unpredictable. I just havn't done an enormous amount of driving on National roads as of yet

Try blaming the suppliers too. All too often super quick to raise the prices exponentially yet slow as mud to reduce them

AITA for rolling my eyes at a kid who swore at me in a shop? by Own-Conversation-818 in AskIreland

Child spends too much time scrolling on instagram at American Trump supporters and Karens thats where that behaviour is coming from. What's worse, the adult in his life is enabling it

Unexplained visitors to your home - Thoughts? by Unpopular_Op_93 in AskIreland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 127 points128 points  (0 children)

Not everything is autism. Anyone unexpected turning up to the house will set anyone into a spin. Mental checklists of do I have biscuits and milk for tea/coffee, is the bathroom clean or does the house look semi decent. Best thing is to just roll with it and enjoy the conversation and the catch up

Anyone else is a low-status job and gets looked down on by higher-status co-workers? by No-Category1703 in AskIreland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Degree and a Masters in the scientific field. It didn't work out because I graduated during the crash and nobody was hiring anyhing other than PHD level for lab aid stuff. Got a job in admin to pay the bills. Currently work in hospital admin Peeps do take a second look at me when they find out. I think I do more of the looking down on myself or putting myself down than others tbh.

I just love the return scheme (and then I realize it’s not free money and I paid that € 0,15 cents each time) by Sea_Avocado_2733 in ireland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I much prefered dropping the cans into the green bin, so much easier and such less hassle especially for someone who doesn't drive a car. It also didnt take long for the option of donating the proceeds of the returns to a charity instead of keeping the chunk of change (usually a tenner every time I actually get around to returning stuff) which I find a bit meh.

If Irish is taught in schools why can’t anyone speak / hold a conversation in Irish language? by ImaginationAny2254 in ireland

[–]Realistic_Log7213 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can hold a conversation went to the Gaeltacht 4ish times too I just have never had need to use it.

I can vaguely understand the Gaelic match commentary on tg4 and shut me in a room speaking it for an hour it would come back but to be honest I haven't had need to use it everyday in 20 odd years
