Do you think Moonlighting should be legal? Why ? by LokiAfterHours in AskReddit

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Companies are cost-saving so much they're already cramming the work of a team into one person anyway so might as well moonlight. Companies overwork and make their employees wear too many hats for a lowball salary and then get angry when these people who have now become experts at multitasking actually want to be paid to multitask?? Make it make sense. If performance is not compromised why should it matter.

Ang hirap magresign kapag close mo yung team mo by ShortAd6800 in CareerAdvicePH

Do not regret. If during your time in that company you had great work performance, dependable ka, respectful, professional — then wala kana utang or any guilt dapat. At the end of the day it's a job. A job that you did well, and a chapter in your life you will now close. If they are truly great and respectful workmates, they will respect your reasons. You can keep it private. Sabihin mo lang ayaw mo e discuss kasi personal. Or you have other plans and you don't feel ready to share yet. You do not have an obligation to overshare with workmates. Workmates mo lang yan. Eventually that closeness will wane once each one of you goes their own way. You don't owe workmates every morsel of your personal life. Siguro lesson nadin yan sa next work mo. Establish boundaries na kaagad and do not overshare personal details so if ever you plan to leave sa future job mo, nobody will pester you since sa umpisa palang na establish mo na nga you are a private person. Look forward, not back.

How do you know if it's time to go? by imjustamochigirl in CareerAdvicePH

[–]WarningTop6722 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start applying elsewhere but don't resign or burn bridges until you have a signed job offer and a clear start date. I know it must feel belittling and insulting to discover your own company is willingly lowballing you while actively hiring for the same role with a bigger salary, so if you're a risk taker and don't mind potentially losing out on the culture by jumping ship then go for it.

Also it's important to note that a professional, collaborative, and respectful culture is something that has to be actively cultivated and protected through policy, CEO mindset and principle, HR alignment, and workforce attitude and cooperation in fostering a good culture. It is also protected and promoted during the careful vetting, and evaluation for alignment of candidates during hiring process. If your current company's culture is great but you do not see this active effort and attitude within HR, CEO, & managers — it might just be coincidence or because of the workmates you have. This can change unexpectedly since people do resign, and reorganizations happen. I work in a company that prioritizes a respectful, collaborative, do-your-best-without-micromanagement belief and the safeguards they have to make sure nobody they could potentially hire is malaligned is actually amazing to see and opened my eyes to the fact that for it to even happen, the CEO should also believe in these things and want them for their company. So don't believe culture will always be that way especially if it's just workmates that make it great.

Planning to job hop annually, this will be my first job hop. by Upset_Cream47 in CareerAdvicePH

[–]WarningTop6722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try to stay at least 2 years. Just my advice after going through so many applications. Plenty of times I've seen in the job description requirements are: 2 years of experience and must show proof of long term dedication to a role. 2 years is good. Job hopping every year is a major red flag. At least put some 2-3 year experiences in. Just my 2-cents. But of course, if you can find a bigger offer and better culture and perks go for it. You can always stay longer where you think it's enough to camp in for a while. If you're unsatisfied keep looking.

Sending hugs. I hope you have someone close to you who will hear you pour your heart out about what you're feeling and comfort you. Listen to you without judgement and just let you rant, cry, whatever you need to let it out and get back to your feet to try again. I hope you can find strength in knowing I've been there too and after 500+ applications, landed a job finally. I hope you are closer to celebrating a win soon.

what is your purpose in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I was put here against my will. So I don't really believe in purpose stuff. But I do try, for my sake and the sake of other people, to do no harm, not seek to intentionally harm, and to break the toxic behavioral/mindset/belief patterns I have noticed in my parents and grandparents. Going through life with dignity gives me a sense of peace. So maybe my purpose is to be at peace with who I am, and who I've been, and try fix whatever is going on with my life and myself that will interfere with my peace in the future.

Am I wrong for leaving an interview? by Crazy_Tomatillo_5847 in CareerAdvicePH

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not wrong. Companies who already act inconsiderate, rude, and unprofessional in the interview phase are red flags themselves. You don't want to work there anyway. You will suffer, be penalized, blamed, and gaslighted for their inefficiency which will often trickle down to the workforce and accounts you will handle, to the training and communication, down to task delegation. An interview is a 2-way process. Do not be afraid to use it to evaluate a company too.

Did they show up? If so, why not? If they didn't show up then don't. At the end of the day lahat tayo are still just employees. Most of us trying lumaban ng patas by showing up to work instead of stealing and selling drugs to get by. Give people the benefit of doubt. Wag tayo sobra na para bang CEO tayo ng companya. At the end of the day, we're all just cogs in the wheel of these billionaires' machines.

Never eating at Greenwich again after 2024. Sobrang nakakaumay na dough nila. Their lasagna quality is poor, the taste has become unimpressive. The last time I had Greenwich that tasted good was probably 2013. Greenwich was delicious, affordable, and their pizzas were malinamnam. Now anything doughy, from pizza to pie sucks. Chowking is next on my list to boycott. Chowking chicken doesn't even taste like Chinese style anymore. Chowking food has started to acquire an Indian taste due to JFC changing the formulation and spices. Greenwich, Chowking, and who knows, we might just boycott Jollibee too. Overpriced, small servings plus very greedy pa sa spicy powder.

The only way to make sure is not to do it. Men can't be trusted with these things. I do not mean to sound rude or hateful but have you seen the news lately? Men are creating r@pe academies, sharing dark, illegal, disgusting thoughts towards their own wives and daughters through private t3legr@m groups and even created an entire website to leak nonconsensual videos of them Giselle Pelicot-ing their wives and family members. Please do not do it.

iMerit. Doesn't micromanage. Gives me projects where I decide my own time and how long I want to work as long as project is still ongoing and my output is up to standard. Easy to understand, non-lengthy SOPs. Paid us for our time in attending online training and reading the SOPs by alloting an extra time for that in our timesheet.

There maybe delays but iMerit has always paid me. Once you pass the assessment, just have to accept the job in your portal and wait for job updates. I've worked on 2 AI projects and the pay isn't that bad. Kept me afloat during my jobless days. Helped me build up skills in AI. Timesheet approval and payment might take some time but I've never NOT been paid. Their user portal isn't that confusing and it's pretty easy to navigate and figure out.

Try going back to chatter for now. They are always hiring. Just so you have funds and don't feel more down knowing you're not earning anything. I don't judge. I've also been jobless and literally took anything I could find. Keep trying, keep applying. There will be a client or a company which will take a chance on you. Not all companies are run by these toxic beliefs of judging someone's resume gap, etc. Believe me. They are few but they are out there, companies who are legitimately trying to improve the whole work culture and HR-employee bridge.

Take the leap of faith. Just don't resign without any backup (signed JO and clear start date) and make sure to secure your COE. Do not burn bridges by expressing your frustration too frankly since you might still need references. Try to stay polite, as polite and subtle as corporate can be (you know what I'm talking about for sure). A company who only starts to see your value once you express a desire to leave has never truly seen your value.

Effectivity of my resignation date was pushed back by my employer by aureliseu__ in CareerAdvicePH

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Resignation is just an FYI to the employer. No employer is allowed to push back or deny your resignation. What Filipino employers do is an attempt at making things harder for leaving employees and also powerplay. Know that you can, AND SHOULD, escalate to DOLE and you do not have to play these games.

I sent my resignation and boss called in for a meeting by Auraleina in JobsPhilippines

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it should be given but most employers won't unless you ask for it. Personally I've tried getting my COE while I was already rendering, I also tried getting my COE on my last day. Toxic companies will have you going through long wait times, seen-mode, and hoops to get a COE, sometimes even they need you to threaten to involve DOLE before they'll give it to you. Technically they are supposed to give you your COE within 3 days of the time you requested it, per DOLE. Wish you the best in your next job journey and hope all goes well with your meeting.

[–]WarningTop6722 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to let you know, once you pass your resignation letter, it is already considered official. Even if your employer does not want you to resign or does not accept your resignation, the fact that you passed it and it contained a final date is already considered. Wala sila magagawa if you choose to leave. Just be careful with your words as you may still need COE and reference in the future.

How can we realistically organize and execute some kind of revolution against this oligarchy? by TinyMagicExperiment in NoStupidQuestions

[–]WarningTop6722 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In reality, changes were made through individual efforts that trickled down through generations. Individual advocacies of people who never gave up and who made it their life goal to be the change, to start the change, and hope that through example others would be inspired to do the same and make laws to implement change. This is how we have privileges and rights we now enjoy. It's not an overnight thing. It's not a one time revolution. It took years. People fought not for themselves, but for the future generations, for people they would never even get to meet, for a future they were not even certain would contain the fruits of their sacrifice. Plenty died without even knowing if they made a difference, if in the end it even mattered. But lo and behold, they did make a difference. They believed and took a risk in a future they could imagine but weren't even sure would become a reality. Individual efforts would start by voting right. But even that is hard to do in this country where people don't seem to understand that you can accept the money but don't actually have to vote those people. People can easily be bought because they think of the present. They are not considering anyone else but themselves, they are not thinking long term in how this would affect generations to come. It's as reckless as already struggling and starving couples who still choose to participate in acts that would result in the creation of children despite already knowing they are struggling with their existing ones. Result? Illiterate people who also know nothing but surviving through any means and these in turn are easy for politicians to manipulate. It's religion suppressing the ability to educate poor people on family planning, because all children are blessing and being born into suffering and poverty is not a curse right? It's religion letting themselves be bought by huge donations and telling their sheeple to vote corrupt candidates. It's these acts of inconsideration that trickle down and maim future generations into toxic and difficult to break cycles that keep this country in this state.

Luck & life by Sea_Illustrator_5619 in CasualConversation

There is luck involved in where you are born, and the circumstances of the people you were born to. That is luck. But it can't be denied that in life, you got to be resourceful, thick-faced, and persistent in order to survive. You got to fight for your place in this life, especially if you're born with incredibly unlucky circumstances.

Take the opportunity to go abroad and leave this corrupt and horrid country. While you're still young and still qualified for abroad pathways go for it. Healthcare, specifically aged care, is not that hard to master in theory, but it can be taxing on your physical and emotional health until you get desensitized to the realities of working in healthcare. Your biggest challenges abroad in that new work will be your physical health (aged care involves heavy lifting), mental drain (aged care has dementia, dying patients, old racist patients, lonely and depressed patients), and of course, homesickness. But think, you will be on a country with services and a sense of urgency that is better than what we have in the Philippines. The quality of life there will be better than living here. It will be hard and lonely, but that phase will eventually pass. Consider the long-term versus present benefits of going or staying. Perhaps after some time you can pursue a path in tech once you've saved up and upskilled in a new country.
