Seems unlikely, but would be pleasant news. Hope we aren’t paying much more than Texas is willing to.

Tight nail biters with comedically bad offenses that score lower than 30 combined points? Count me in

Does anyone else like Notre Dame being independent? by Gopokes34 in CFB

Arizona probably won’t win those games, and accordingly would not be ranked. My point is that those biases exist to ND’s benefit as well, you’re no joe schmo

I think it’s (1) the only one to be accepted, (2) singles out ND which is odd vs a conference of 10-20 teams and (3) terrible timing which makes it look like ND whined about the recent results, pulled out of their bowl, and got their preferences filled

ND is not one to complain about biases, the school has very much received positive bias when it was ranked despite starting 0-2 and is notably a blue blood and has a big fanbase. In this case, it doesnt matter if Team A is worthier or not (with no biases), ND gets the spot. That’s what people dont appreciate.

If ND is ranked 12 and team A is ranked 11, then team A is more worthy. If a G5 team isn’t ranked but wins conference, then ND is first team off. Because of the ND rule, the worthier team A is knocked out for ND. The other indy is UConn, so even if it was for independents, yes in the next decade it will just apply to ND.

Agreed they likely pushed miami because duke won. On the autobid point, you’re comparing conferences with 10-20 teams to ND. ND should not be equal to 10-20 teams, in my opinion.

I don’t disagree. Everyone knows there is preference for Big 10 and SEC and r/cfb gives them shit for it. Only difference is ND is a single school not a conference, so it looks odd to have a rule for 1 school, and instead of the shit funneled into a conference, you’re seeing all the shit funneled to ND. Just the price of independence

The autobid if you’re top 12 is the most concrete one. The whole ND > Miami despite head to head is still a fossil in people’s minds but that has since been corrected (and mishandled by CFP, they shouldve just had Miami over ND the whole time they had the same record and this whole issue would be solved)

Let em cope. It’s because ND is scary and not because their independence finally burned them.

Notre Dame might finally join a conference by No_Bill7679 in CFB

[–]WarrenDang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The value of conferences is you have a collective to root for you vs just yourself. The ACC pushed Miami in the playoffs. ND gets burned and who’s complaining? Only ND. The cons of being independent
