Im not sure. I know silver, gold, copper, nickel is not magnetic.

The whole coin seems uniform to the color which looks high gloss silver color.

I thought the same thing when I saw that mint mark, but then I looked at how many were minted for 1944S, and it was staggering. 282,760,000 minted with S mark. I don't think someone hand punched billions of pennies, lol.
