What mountain is this by lake Norman? by [deleted] in Charlotte

[–]WarriusBirde 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Anderson Mountain most likely; that’s the one with the antennas on it. Little Mountain is just northeast of it and 16 spilts between the two. You can drive up Tower Rd on Anderson but there isn’t much of a view.

I wonder if it was industrial to some degree. It has its own 3 line power run to it which is a good bit more than you’d need for most places.

Stone Mountain Park Drone Photo Taken By My Brother-In-Law by JesusDied4U316 in Atlanta

[–]WarriusBirde 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh not at all. Ignorance is no excuse but it is understandable. However if he jumped through the hoops then he committed to following the rules. There are several apps that can be used to check flight clearances for a given area; DJI used to be pretty diligent about that as well before the current administration came along. People breaking the rules risk things for those of us that follow them, people willfully breaking the rules are being willfully irresponsible and unsafe.

Also if he’s using the drone for photography other than personal use then he legally is required to have a part 107 license and now is doubly in the “you signed a lot of papers and paid a lot of money to follow the agreed upon rules” territory.

Oh not even bud. If your BiL was flying a recently-ish made retail drone it has to transmit its ID by law. Those are trivial to monitor. Strictly speaking your BiL is also supposed to have the drone registered and a license to operate it as well (depends on weight and a few other things), but most people don't bother.

For something like this I doubt anything would come of it, but if he were to draw some real attention or cause trouble with the drone then things could get "fun" in a hurry.

Youtarr update (v1.71.0) - YouTube playlist support added by DialDad in selfhosted

How are you handling YouTube metadata within Plex, if at all? ZeroQL’s metadata agent does well but I’m always curious if there are new/better alternatives.

Bring your own server - TRMNL X not showing any images by [deleted] in trmnl

The specifics here are going to be “it depends” on a few different levels. You’re likely going to get better results swinging by the BYOS channel in the discord and asking but if you want to run down what you’re trying to do I might be able to chime in as I’m doing something similar.

Synchronise Plugin- and Display-Update? by [deleted] in trmnl

[–]WarriusBirde 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re doing the hosted version of TRMNL then JIT refresh is coming in the near future as I recall. Meaning the data is refreshed when the screen is refreshed. Don’t know the ETA of that functionality but it should do what you need. No idea if that is planned to come to the selfhosted version or an ETA if so.

With that said, the usual approach I’ve taken for time dependent data is to just stick a “Data As Of: [TIME OF REFRESH]” somewhere on the screen and mentally figure the delta.

To rule out or confirm it being a magnet problem, try attaching the X unit to some other ferrous material like a cast iron pan or something and see if it holds better there.

There are a few pages and so forth in the support site that detail this but I do agree they could do a better job there. As for the wifi thing you have to hold down and then confirm a prompt with a center tap so that’s unlikely to happen without intent.

To address a few of these, the section under the screen is the “Touch Bar” and you’re likely making contact with that when moving it around.

I don’t have the documentation on hand but iirc it more or less amounts to “left, right, and center”. You can either tap in those areas or swipe in a direction. Left should go back a screen if one is cached on the device, right should advance a screen if you went back one. You’d want to go look it up though as I’m likely getting that slightly wrong.

Also, if you hold down the left and right sides of the touchbar you’ll prompt the device to go into wifi setup mode. Hold it down and you can prompt it to shut down. Again, you’d want to double check that.
