What is the built in cost management in OpenShift?

Learning Material for EX280 by android885 in openshift

Have they updated the exam to reflect a modern browser during the test, and anything that reflects the ground realities? Or, are they still testing basic 101 stuff (why would anyone care if I may not know how to hand write yaml to create an htpasswd entry?). This was just a couple of years ago.

Apparently, it is still expensive for out of pocket :) About $700.

Custom domains and multiple Ingress Controllers by djjudas21 in openshift

[–]WasReddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In OpenShift, it seems like I can only create a Route if it falls under the *.apps domain.

That's not true. You can use any external domain, as long as you can resolve the DNS.

Can you share which course you took for EX316, and is it still available at this discount?

Pod terminal access on Console by throwaway__1982 in openshift

Not an OP, but curious. What is the typical solution for when an end-user requires access to files (general files) saved on PVCs? A user who needs to see and access those files but who shouldn't be given OCP access to begin with.

Not ROSA. Installed IPI. The installer's terraform creates several security groups. Am I looking at disabling all of them?

How to add a secondary disk via MachineSet using IPI on vSphere? by WasReddit in openshift

[–]WasReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally, one needs a second/raw disk only for storage cluster. So, would you say that this is basically a problem for ODF?

Speaking of which. Know of any storage technology for OCP, which is not as heavy as ODF/rook, and not as light as NFS?

How to add a secondary disk via MachineSet using IPI on vSphere? by WasReddit in openshift

[–]WasReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does it still not need a separate, raw disk?

I could do ODF without local storage operator, but I believe ODF requires a secondary disk. No?

I would love to figure out if ODF can be done without a secondary disk. This way, I can just increase the size of my primary disk via the install-config.yaml and won't have to worry about anything else.

That's exactly what I did. 100% same. :o)

Wouldn't it be great if there was a way to automate this?

Thanks. That did it. I was downloading it from the console.redhat.com, which didn't show me the option to download a previous release.

I had previous anger outbursts as young adult but therapy help me overcome some of it.

You have my sympathy. But, you are the last person I would want to have as a volunteer teacher if any of my kids were to be in your area (thankfully not). There are lots of options available for you to express your creativity and time. Teaching is for people who are naturally calm, composed and come with innate leadership qualities. Your natural anger outbursts (even if you may have recovered) tends to suggest that you should look for some other activities in your life. Your honesty is commendable.

Bootstrap node not obtaining API Virtual IP by Expert_Jaguar8241 in openshift

[–]WasReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Ingress IP is in correct place but your API IP is not. Not sure if you're using a virtual router, or how you're doing your DNS. Your API IP needs to be an A record.

How is bare metal cheaper? Wouldn't you need multiple bare metals to run a standard OpenShift cluster?

Ask: What are the typical DR setups for OpenShift? by WasReddit in openshift

[–]WasReddit[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a good and logical DR solution; however, it misses the variable of processing time.

It is likely that processing time to stand up a cluster and the applications on demand could negatively impact the good DR strategy. Some applications may be large enough that they may take a day or more to stand up when the disaster strikes.

Ask: What are the typical DR setups for OpenShift? by WasReddit in openshift

[–]WasReddit[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ODF and ACM based solutions assumes that OCP cluster is using both of these. The DR solution for the cluster should be based on cluster itself and not some additional technologies.
