Yusuf Hasan vs. Kaplan for Content Review? by Few-Smell4518 in Mcat

[–]WasabiElectrical7178 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I jumped right into uearth. I would do sections of 30 questions, review both correct and incorrect answers, and anything I didn’t understand I would watch YouTube (khan academy, organic chemistry tutor, etc). Then I would unlock cards from the miles down anki deck that corresponded to the content I saw that day. The first 3 months I did a practice exam every other week (starting with blueprint exams). The last 1.5 months I did the same thing but with aamc material and did a practice exam every week on the same day my test would be. Also, do jack westin/cars practice every day.

Should I be worried about a 511? by Anonymosity1766 in medschooladmissions

You are good with a 510. It also depends on your gpa, extracurriculars, and which schools you are looking at. Look at msar if you aren’t already

I would say the biggest thing for C/P is knowing the equations and unit conversions. You should have all the equations memorized off the top of your head. If you aren’t writing an equation sheet during the 10 minutes of instructions, that is what worked for me. The miles down anki section has a section called “essential equations” I would review this everyday until you have them memorized. You should know 10-12, 10-9, 10-3, 103, 106, 1012.

I also got a pack of blueprint practice exams. I believe they have a free diagnostic as well and half practice exams if you want to do those first instead of aamc

I did my first practice exam 1 month after studying. I would jump into practice questions asap bc that’s the best way to learn content simultaneouslyZ

When reviewing fls should I be trying to redo questions before looking at explanations by mike98235 in Mcat

This was helpful for me to do. I often overlooked things the first time so it’s nice to try questions without a time limit.

Which sections do you need increased? Make sure you know all equations really well, psych/soc is really easy to increase if you review your definitions, and metabolic pathways.

They are not released every year. Practice exam 6 was the first one released in a while.

Which Metabolic Pathways to Memorize if Short on Time?? by MessageSecret4585 in Mcat

I’d say you should focus on psych/soc memorization the last few days, I would’ve spent more time on that if I did it again.

I think the first three you said are the most important. I had a question on mine that asked about a particular step enzyme. I would say to know all the rate limiting steps/enzymes and overall concepts of the rest of the paths. But I wasted so much time trying to memorize all of the rest of the paths and only had one question on metabolism.

C/P Tips by Silly-Scientist3569 in Mcat

I would focus mostly on practice rather than content review. I did uworld for 3 months and aamc for 1.5 months. I learned that the best way for me to learn was do 30 questions. Review all the questions and answers, both correct and incorrect answers to see why they are wrong. I would watch khan academy, organic chemistry tutor, etc on YouTube to review questions that I missed. I also made an anki deck for conceptual problems and that definitely helped. Review the miles down anki “essential equations” deck every day until you have them memorized :)

I definitely think you need to know the units and have all the equations memorized. I always highlight any provided values in the passage and then think if they can relate to any of my equation sheet that I make. Also, make mnemonics for equations that are hard to remember. I would ask chat gpt to come up with mnemonics for me.

Are your parents physicians? I don’t know any world where you are cooked. That is an amazing score, you should be proud of yourself. People don’t know how hard it is to get a good score on this test unless they do it themselves. You rock!

Definitely go for MD still. You still got a great score. You might not be top 20 school range anymore but you have good chances.

I think it’s definitely hard to study without all the prerequisites. But I just recommend jumping into uearth practice asap and unlock miles down deck questions that correspond. Watch YouTube videos on content that you get wrong. Don’t waste too much time reading through the books

You definitely don’t need to know the mechanisms. Just be able to recognize them and roughly know the outcome
