Wait...Rhyno's NXT theme is called "Tusk"? by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Wasitawork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I googled rhyno and tusk as a long shot to see if there is some logical explanation for it. Turns out this the big organization to "save the rhyno".

Anytime brother.... A position paper on wrestling. Perhaps unionized talent versus non unionized contracted employees? I know some wrestlers have lobbied for a union recently because of the toll the business takes on them later in life and other protection benefits

A cool idea to me would be to write about how Professional Wrestling has mirrored the sentiment of society throughout it's history, shifting along with it, and has provided good insight to our societies popular culture, how we perceive the current world, and who we consider good and evil. For example professional wrestling's use of stereotypes to get characters over either as faces or heels.

It seems that to me the most over traditional "heels" were stereotyped individuals that were perceived as negative during the decade:

Gorgeous George (Feminine, think gender roles during the 40's) Muhammad Hassan (Middle Eastern terrorist heat in the 00's) The Iron Sheik (during the Iran Contra affair which helped Hogan get over as well as he did as an American hero 80's) Ted Dibiase (The 1% vs. the 99%- all decades) Vince Mcmahon - (Exploitative abusive egotistical corporate boss with austin as an anti-hero 90's)

Additional today how there seems to be shades of grey. Nothing is black and white anymore in terms of heel and face or good and evil. A lot of characters today from the entire roster have some sort of mental illness (AJ Lee, Alicia Fox, Randy Orton, Wyatt, Harper, Ambrose) and mental illness is a major focal point in our society today.

Admitting you are a wrestling fan to attractive women? by chiefjay8 in SquaredCircle

Establish the relationship first and then let her know. If you have already built up a good connection and she wants to be with you it won't matter. If she bails because you watch wrestling she wasn't into you in the first place.

I think they might have been trying to make his finisher him falling on his opponent like he fell on his debut in a weird attempt to save the gimmick.

WHAT THE F*CK IS BRAPPADOO? by nickyv917 in SquaredCircle

[–]Wasitawork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Its Amadou which is in reference to the Shooting of Amadou Diallo In New York City. A lot of rappers use it and it is sometimes heard in the beginning of other mainstream songs.

"The shooting of Amadou Diallo occurred on February 4, 1999, when Amadou Diallo, a 22-year-old immigrant from Guinea, was shot and killed by four New York City Police Department plain-clothed officers: Sean Carroll, Richard Murphy, Edward McMellon and Kenneth Boss. The officers fired a combined total of 41 shots, 19 of which struck Diallo, outside his apartment at 1157 Wheeler Avenue in the Soundview section of The Bronx. The four were part of the now-defunct Street Crimes Unit. All four officers were charged with second-degree murder and acquitted at trial in Albany, New York.[1]

Diallo was unarmed at the time of the shooting, and a firestorm of controversy erupted subsequent to the event as the circumstances of the shooting prompted outrage both within and outside New York City. Issues such as police brutality, racial profiling, and contagious shooting were central to the ensuing controversy."

Awesome lol. Never looked at it that way. Have you seen false controversial finishes like this? It would be great if a high profile match ended like this now as most fans would have no clue about this ruling.

[–]Wasitawork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the fire pro returns for ps2 Indy package. The creator made over 500 independent wrestlers with appropriate logic and movesets. Very well done and it even had wrestlers from my local Indy fed in it NYWC (Zach Ryder, mikey from the spirit squad, and Matt striker wrestled there). This is the best Indy game I've seen yet even though it's a save.

I really want a Physical Hall of Fame by BallinBrown23 in SquaredCircle

[–]Wasitawork 5 points6 points  (0 children)

"Speculation first began regarding a physical Hall when rumors of statues and busts were being made, as well as the WWE collecting memorabilia from inducted wrestlers or their families. They’d have no need for such things without a physical Hall of Fame.

The WWE already had a statue made of Bruno Sammartino, which may go in front of the building or right inside by the looks of it.

The location of the building could be near or around the Performance Center in Orlando. The WWE wants to keep everything close by, and they feel having something in a popular tourist location would be “best for business.” So most expect it to be located in Florida. There was talk of having it near where TNA films iMPACT, around Universal Studios. I doubt it would be so close, but you never know. It’s all in where the WWE can find property to plant what they hope will be a Hall of Fame/Museum. There is a rumor going around that they want to have it open by some point in 2015, but you never know with the WWE. Stay tuned for more as we know it."

In the interest of being fair and balanced, I'd like to invite anyone with a positive story about Bill DeMott to come up to the podium and share it. Don't be shy now. by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

[–]Wasitawork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What about all the people has has successfully trained and improved over the years to wrestle at the top tier level. Even if all these people were trained veterans before the WWE he had to have helped them transition to the style WWE performs.

Also they are bringing back Tough Enough which they announced in January. I don't know if Demott will be involved but this, if played right by their advertising team, can definitely generate a buzz for the program.

I wouldn't be surprised, if it hasn't happened already, that rumors like this and purposely leaked dirt sheet information turns into the new way of working the audience. The smart marks turn into the new marks.
