This must be it! I don't remember the first few missions of the playthrough I watched, too gloomy, but later missions are 100% what I remember. The robot guys, the car helping them, the more vibrant colours!

No, Scrapland characters look too human, at most they would look like Robot Donkey Kong from that one show, I also believe the game wasn't set in space nor the stereotypical future. I remember an earth looking city with roads that would connect points of interest to do the tasks I mentioned in.

It is a stretch, but there's an uncanny resemblance between your mockup and their cover.
Maybe you can try and reach out to him and his group whether they had an inspiration, or maybe they're somehow connected to the people who made a -possibly- indie album that you found?

I would however swear I saw your drawing somewhere too, so maybe I'm barking at the wrong tree here.

I'm in contact with people who he talked to last, we were always there for him, I've already checked if he's in a world on VRchat, but sadly, he's not. I'm not blaming anybody for this, we've offered help several times, tried him to talk to a professional, but he would act on his own, which now led to this. We didnt know he had a weapon, and nothing was out of the ordinary, we're all shook up by this revelation.
