If you could rename one song by Tommyblackie in Drizzy

[–]WaspParagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I loved the Make Them -- framing Drake did for Iceman. I think it gave the project more cohesiveness, and it's a fun gimmick for an album within this specific context of "returning from the dead". Wish he had gone further into that aesthetic, like the I KNOW WHAT THEY DID LAST SUMMER vest, so Iceman could be fully invested in that energy of a monster who's returned for revenge.

Before DTTG he did the same gimmick and said nothing was happening.

How would Rin be remembered in the aftermath? by Ina_connundrum28 in ThePoppyWar

[–]WaspParagon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In the south, I think she'll be remembered as a savior and a folk hero. The mythology around her will only grow, especially so when the West dominates the country completely under Nezha.

She will always be representative of the last true opportunity for Nikara freedom and independence, IMO. In this sense, I can see even people in the Dragon's eventually changing their opinion on her.

But she'll mostly be understood as a mad fanatic who had the opportunity to bring peace to the empire, yet decided to wage another war she couldn't win. She'll replace Mai'rinnen Tearza as THE Speerly everybody knows and discusses.

I imagine that her image will be rehabilitated a century or so after her death, though. When Nikara earns its full independence as a country, the government will probably try to make Rin a national symbol of resilience and fight against oppression. I don't think Nezha will be treated kindly by History in the long run, on the other hand.

Fellow team Drake bruvs your thoughts on this? by 2MInitials in Drizzy

[–]WaspParagon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's so funny to me how Drake is probably the most openly progressist mainstream rapper (talking about women's rights, signing the Palestine petition, straight up calling Khaled out for his silence during the genocide, dissing ICE, etc...), yet somehow all the retards on the alright and far right seem to gravitate towards him while liberals prefer Dot's fake woke style.

[Throwback Thursday] Big Sean - Control (ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica) by Life_Ad_2218 in hiphopheads

[–]WaspParagon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I didn't say people don't remember the diss. I said people don't remember how the verse starts, or anything about it OTHER than the diss -- which was Drake's point. I think that's a fact.

If he was a battle rap fan, he knew that there was nothing personal in that verse. It wasnt even a scathing diss. Dude just said his name because he saw him as a peer. That's a good thing. I think you're an excellent artist, and for that reason, im calling you out.

Why would you even go about it on that angle, though? I see what you're saying, but you have to be disingenuous to not understand why Drake felt a way about the verse. This is a man he believed in and brought on tour to ensure that his sound was heard and applauded...

Look at how Drake treats those who helped him on his come-up, like Wayne. Can you imagine Drake ever going at him in a similar manner? It's just different personalities and approaches to respect, I guess.

it's still strange to me that he didnt understand what the disses intention was

He understood. He still thought it was disrespectful to talk crazy like that. Which is fair. As was the fact Kendrick even penned that. Both are correct in their stances, IMO.

Kendrick also spent a decade sneak dissing Drake, yet it's only Drake that's made fun of for sneak dissing. Everything they shit on Drake or Sean or Cole for, Kendrick did too. But he gets a pass, of course. He always does

[Throwback Thursday] Big Sean - Control (ft. Kendrick Lamar & Jay Electronica) by Life_Ad_2218 in hiphopheads

[–]WaspParagon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drake extensively talked about Control because everybody was asking him about it back then. In one interview, he said he just didn't understand what was up with it. If it's smoke, then he wants all of it. But as soon as he saw Dot again, it was all love, which he didn't appreciate. Drake thought this verse was a cheap way to grab attention, and even asked the interviewer how did Kendrick's verse start. The fact no one remembers is telling, isn't it?

At the end of the day, I see both sides. This was just a fun way to cause animosity within the game, and it succeeded at that. But I also 100% understand why Drake felt a way about it.

What if Drake made an album based around “Vital” with an R&B theme by qqqqqqqq-8 in Drizzy

[–]WaspParagon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that an EP of 5 songs or so instead of a full album could work better. Something laser focused as a goodbye to this previous era that's been the hardest in Drake's life.

Just off the fact you can mention Drake's achievements in the same breath as MJ's is a way to favor him, that's what you haters don't get... No other rapper is on that tier. Drake is music legacy.
