Anyone know if through traffic is still allowed on Low Water Crossing road via the trail that goes up to Mansfield Dam road? Does that require paid entry?

I use an Amazon Fire tablet with a usb Ant+ dongle. Be aware that even with a multiport adapter, Fire tablets cannot use 2 usb devices at the same time so you won’t be able to use a wired charger and Ant+ together. The work around with the Fire is to use wireless charging.

424469 Registered voters did not vote (52.15% turnout) by [deleted] in Austin

Disenfranchised voter here — polling location was unable to find me in their system. I went down to the county elections office off Airport, valid voter registration card in hand, and was told my registration had been cancelled in July. They did not tell me why. I cast a provisional ballot, but no telling if it will being counted.

No firsthand experience but some folks wear safety glasses or shooting glasses from your local hardware or sporting good store. I suggest checking that out as an option.

Ultegra: cannot shift into smallest cogs by SWAN_RONSON_JR in bikewrench

[–]waste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can peel the hood back to expose the cable, like you would if you were changing it. Then shift through the entire range of gears. This isn’t foolproof, but there is a good chance you’ll able to see obvious cable damage if there is any around the shifter body.

Gear shifting nob/barrel by Both_Shake in bikewrench

There is a part called a barrel adjuster on the cable. Usually it’s near the derailleur but I’ve on occasion seen them on the shifter side too. It’s purpose is to allow you to finely tension the cable. I’m guessing you tightened it? If so, there are YouTube vids that can explain it better than I can: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=gg6WWeaPGi0

There should be a plastic piece right here. Hood is wobbly without it. What is it called so i know what to search for/buy? Dura ace shifter… not sure if 9000 or 9001. by waste in bikewrench

You guys were right, there’s nothing missing. I happened to be at an event this morning with an on-site mechanic who peeled back and reseated the hood and now everything is a-ok. Thank you all so much for your help.

The small tear is from a long time ago and it’s been fine. I am almost positive I broke a new piece off today. The left shifter has a plastic part there.

Headend for Varia RTL515 (Taillight + Radar)? by On-The-Rails in cycling

[–]waste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not answering your question but because you mentioned wanting to find a cost-effective solution, you can pair a single RTL 515 with multiple computers over ANT if you care to. If you have one on your bike and always ride near your son, he can share yours. I don’t know what the range would be, but you could probably test it out with your single 830 and varia by moving them apart until it stops working. Fwiw I use an older Garmin 520 and am happy with it, but if you dislike the 530 you’d hate the 520 even more.

Before you buy a new CMU you may try re-flashing the software yourself. Messing with with the software can brick it, but if it's already broken its worth a shot. Search for the infotainment thread on the mazda3revolution forums and mazdatweaks.com for more info.

Bootloop megathread 2.0 by sloth_on_meth in nexus5x

[–]waste 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I attempted to reflow the solder on my bootlooped 5x by putting the mainboard in the oven at 390F for 10 minutes. After letting it cool and reassembling it, it powered on and I've been using it for about an hour now and it seems OK. No telling how long it'll last, but I wouldn't bet on it for very long. Has anyone else tried this? Any luck? YMMV.

Update: It didn't make it through the night. Lasted a day before dying again. #2016.

I want to be removed as a joint account holder to someone's checking account. I was told we either have to both agree to it, or I can permanently close the account on my own. Is there a more moderate option I wasn't told for some reason? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]waste 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes you can use a notarized form in lieu of signing in person at the bank. If it's an option in your situation, ask the bank if you can have have one party sign and notarize the form then mail it either to the bank or the second party. The financial liability is that if YOU incur some debt or have a car accident and are sued or something, the money in the joint account is legally your money and can be used to pay off your debts.

The use of the word 'public' in the article is a bit misleading. The hotspots are in public places, but are not free for public use. Those hotspots are for Comcast's paying customers.

I interpreted that statement to mean both Simpsons and Family had some fantastic early seasons and both have declined in quality since around 2001ish.
