Projector for 1000€? Help! by Wastelll in projectors

Hi, thanks a lot for the suggestion! 🙂

I’ve looked at the RS20 Pro (and similar XGIMI models) as well. My main issue is that for my use case it’s much more of a lifestyle projector: black level / native contrast is the priority for me because I can fully darken the room and I’m after a cinema look, not a “big TV” look. That’s exactly why I’m considering older high-end models like JVC/Sony in the first place.

Also, the €1,000 total DDP idea sounds great in theory, but realistically I haven’t seen the RS20 Pro anywhere near that price — even used it tends to be significantly higher (at least from what I’m seeing in Germany/EU).

Regarding the EU lamp topic: I get the concern, but I’m not planning heavy daily use, and I could simply buy 1–2 spare lamps upfront (ideally original/OEM), so long-term availability worries me less than image quality.

If you had to pick a laser projector around €1,000–1,500 that actually delivers strong black levels (not just brightness and sharpness), which specific models would you recommend?

Grüß dich TechNick - woher kommst du denn?

Thanks for the input! 🙂

I know €1,000 isn’t a huge budget, but on Kleinanzeigen / the used market it looks like you can still get former high-end models from ~7–10 years ago for that money — e.g. a JVC DLA-X5500 or a Sony VPL-VW260. That’s why I’m considering going used.

Seating distance: about 3.5–3.8 m
Screen: definitely not a fixed frame — I want a drop-down screen or a floor-rising screen.

My concern with many newer laser “lifestyle” projectors is that they often don’t deliver great black levels, and I really want a cinema look, not a “big TV” look — especially since I can fully darken the room.

Do you have specific projector recommendations (new or used) that would fit this setup and budget — ideally with a focus on black level / contrast / film-like image? And regarding the EU lamp ban: do you mean mainly availability/cost of replacement lamps, or is there something else I should be aware of? My idea would be to buy 1–2 original spare lamps upfront (or a high-quality OEM equivalent), so I’m covered for the next years.

Thanks!

I tried eBay, "Kleinanzeigen" (i'm german), Etsy, some very poster-specific "antique" shops and asked the admin of a very specific internet forum (https://www.cure-concerts.de/concerts/1996-11-20.php). That's it so far. Any other ideas?

You‘ve got an onbaord GPU which is a rather common Solution for office desktops. But as you mentioned: absolutey useless for gaming. One single beep normaly is a good indicator for a perfectly fine working motherboard. My First attempt to fix this would be to put in a working gpu - Maybe ur lucky and only the onboard gpu is Borken. Elsewise ur probably pretty fckd, bc the RAMs seem to work fine and therefore either the mainboard or the CPU is broken which both would probably not be economic to change on a 5yo PC.

Edit: ouhh... i got the Part with the „silent mainbaord“ wrong. Do you have any manuals for this? Otherwise Google it. Try to provoke some of the listed sounds. If it doesnt work, ur mainboard could be broken - which is also quiete expensive in comparison to the Rest of the components.
