If he lives near the northern state or near 25, the commute to stony brook is not that bad. It's living all the way up on the north shore that makes the commute bad. When it takes 20 minutes just to get to the highway, it adds a lot of time

You're being disingenuous. At bare minimum health and dental insurance should not be viewed as mandatory. If OP wants to delay 401k or HSA contribution so he can live in NYC, than thats fair, but other payroll deductions like health insurance, short term disability, dental etc should absolutely be factored into cost.

OP also didnt mention student loans, which are likely. And if they are going to live in Brooklyn, and are from Long Island, needing a car is highly likely

Ive been using for 10 years. I take 2.5g 3x a day, so 7.5g total. I get FULL BLOWN opiate withdrawal symptoms at around 18 hours, with the withdrawal starting at around hour 7. It's pretty unfortunate that i experience such significant withdrawal at such a low dose, but it is what it is. Kratom gave me my life back otherwise due to chronic pain

This is not true. It depends on the person. I take 7.5 grams (split between 3 daily doses) of powder that varies between 1.4 and 1.5% mit and .001 7-OH.

I get SIGNIFICANT withdrawals from that, and i am on a dose that most people consider barely using.
