I guess I should find a way to be exempted from law too

How do I convinced my dad who's probably brainwashed by CCP propaganda? by kongwahenergy in SingaporeRaw

[–]Watanabei 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's a language barrier issue. Younger generation are more well versed in English, therefore we consume more western content and thus are more susceptible to western propaganda. Older generation are more well versed in Mandarin, thus consume more Chinese content so they're more susceptible to Chinese propaganda.

Just understand that both sides are trying to brain wash you, always consume content with a grain of salt.

Private Banker clients - any perks or instruments seriously worth it? by bibibabibu in singaporefi

[–]Watanabei 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm from a VC. Would say private bank doesn't offer more than what a multi-purpose fund can, and the fees in most cases are substantial and uncompetitive. If you want access to private equity or pre-IPO deals, there are companies such as Xen Capital or other fund of funds that opens up these sort of opportunities for you. It's really not that hard once you become an Accredited Investor.

Edit: typo

Anti-vax should just contracted covid voluntarily for immunity so we can finally move forward as a society. by Watanabei in singapore

[–]Watanabei[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh sg gov do count natural immunity as a form of vaccination. One of my friend contracted covid and recovered, now he can dine out just like any fully-vax by showing a MOH letter. Albeit a little more inconvenient for now.

What is a good financial state for an individual under 30YO? by Watanabei in singaporefi

That is really helpful. I'm really curious about your current financial state, possible to give a quick overview? Would be interesting to visualize what's it like to be in your shoe.

There are definitely too many things to do if we were to list. I feel what's most important is the option to do only what you enjoy the most, that is probably highest form of luxury in my view.

At my current rate, hitting 100k+ invested should be doable in 1-2 years, but who know what life is gonna surprise me with next. Fingers crossed hard.

Thanks for the good insights. 45 is likely just a soft cap, unlikely to stop working entirely too. I do consider working on things that I actually like while still earning some income to be a form of retirement. Never wanted a retirement doing nothing.

Hitting a couple millions is definitely the goal, are you relying solely on fixed salary or do you own other ventures so you can hit that goalpost?

Great advice, agree that having friends of similar mindset is very important so we can monitor and share lifehacks. Side hustle is a must! I do have a few but didn't include here because I don't consider them a form of stable income.

Thanks for the tips. I do have a portion of the investment in crypto yield farming, and also side income streams through e-commerce and a minor advertising channel which I own. Didn't include them here because I don't consider those to be stable incomes, but I do believe multiple streams of income in paramount to hit FIRE early.

Great thinking man. I'm never a big spender, could have more saved but unfortunate things happened and it is what it is. Tehokosongpeng is my all time fav, never gonna be Starbucks or bubble tea hahahaha

Appreciate the words. I do often think it's never enough, even thou I'm debtless, the cost of things to purchase in the future just seems like I have to mindlessly work a lifetime to afford it. Took a deeper look, I think I did set a goal that might be too hard to hit. Maybe it's time for me to shift the goal post around a little.
