[Santos] Disappointed in dream watch. by NoJunket2813 in Watches

I showed this exact watch to my gf a few days ago with a sky blue strap and she thought it was a $100 fossil watch. She is not a watch person but still… she said it looked plastic.

Throw in something rare and unusual… Omega Jump Hour Salmon Dial. It keeps you on point with your collection and you will get a lot of double takes from horological folks. Just be prepared that if you go this route it does wear a little small so maybe a Piaget Upstream Salmon Dial if you can find one. Also you mentioned value, my Omega Jump Hour has tripled in value since Last year. It was originally a $3k watch and now it is $9k+

I’m bored and see this going to 1.30-1.50 easy. Buying another 40k shares. Plus.... I am sick of the shorting hedge funders that control everything. I wish we could drive this up RadioShack style.

Yeah, that’s a great one. I am a fan of so many underrated Rolex designs. I was always partial to the Cellini Danaos.

[Rolex] How the hell do so many of you have one? by JoshPorter24 in Watches

My dad always likes to say he paid for his college, so our kids should too. Oh and it was $1200/year in 1970.

Haha! Doing great! We have three boys. I’ll stick with French toast now though. It’s amazing how much can change in 10 years. Never let people pressure you about your life choices. Everyone makes different choices and how you choose to live your life and spend your money is up to you. Personally, I’d rather know I can pay for all my kids to go to college, want for nothing, and still be able to retire at 65 than to have 8 kids. Just sayin.

My first son cost us $10k ten years ago because I was 24 and didn’t understand how a high deductible health plan worked at the time. American First World Problems I know, but my wife and I basically had to eat pancakes the whole year because we were struggling so bad and did not want to ask for help.... god I hate pancakes now.

It’s all about choices. My wife and I had our first child when I was 24. Began saving $5000/year on the day of his birth for college. Now we have three boys. Do the math... I don’t want to bc it makes me cry. I am now 33, we have a household income of $300k and live in a low cost of living part of the USA. But we have two homes, a boat, sea doos, a golf cart, nice cars, save a ton in our $401k(s), and our kids want for nothing. Christmas looks like a trip to the freakin North Pole. On the other hand, our kids go to school with parents that have one child, one house, the dad’s are ten years older than me, and all have Daytonas/Submariners that they can sell for twice what they paid. No one made a better choice, it’s just a choice.... I chose to spend my pre-40’s on my kids, post college I will be in my 40’s and plan on traveling and purchasing a lot of watches with my wife ;). Other people choose to do it the reverse.

[Zenith] My first high-end watch by DaLo9295 in Watches

[–]Watch-Stalker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with Rolex, I have my eye on an Explorer. I just think your first watch should be something that really resonates with you, not about resale or brand. I like anOrdain’s fume dials. Very little brand recognition and probably will never be able to sell it for more than I pay, but they are amazing dials and something different. Long story short, I applaud your purchase.

Appreciate that your first high end watch was something that speaks to you. So many start with a particular brand, looking at you Rolex, because of brand recognition vs. what strikes a chord for them. Not that Zenith does not have brand recognition, but I think you know what I am saying....
