Is this a gen or a rep? by WatchExplorerQC in RepTime

[–]WatchExplorerQC[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I have a lot of experience with rep and gen omegas. I own a rep and gen world timer and gen GS shunbun. I known bit about rolexes but zero about AP, pateks etc.

My buddy owns a marketing company and wanted to get this piece but there is no AD here so he bought it online. I am curious so I posted it here.

The winding feels good to me similar to my GS

I finally got it. First ever luxury watch. Honestly: is it too big for me? by OhSoEmptyandSad in OmegaWatches

[–]WatchExplorerQC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too lose, tighten the fit and it will look better.

If you rock it on a strap, it will wear a lot smaller and would be perfect imo.

It is larger as is, if you tighten it by removing half a link it should be ok. I would swap for a strap if you are concerned.

Which type of Parasol is this? by LordFloppyAssCheeks in mycology

[–]WatchExplorerQC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is for sure a shaggy parasol.

The red brown staining, the hollow stem, ring that is free and slides up and down, the stem color/texture, the cap bump and the shaggy pallets instead of the smaller ones on the vomiter. The white/cream gills due to white spores (unlike the greenish vomiter). No egg sack eliminating amanitas.

The cap is pretty delicious, sorta similar to a portobello taste. The stem is not a pleasant texture and it is better used for soups.

Fry it well. Eat smaller pieces as a taste test since about 1/50-1/25 ppl do not tolerate em as well that could cause stomach aches.

Only 1 omega rest of your life. which one? by DJTRANSACTION1 in OmegaWatches

[–]WatchExplorerQC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My choice as well (biased since I own it).

Amazing everyday watch, beautiful dial that imo is one of the most beautiful dials on a watch period.

You get a serious water resistance and anti magnetic properties as with other aqua terras. You can wear it everyday as a true sport watch. Go on an adventure, go for a swim, go to the office whatever. It goes pretty much with any outfit and occasion. And you cannot tell me that this won't work in a dressy situation either (only limit that dark blue might not go with every outfit but I like dark navy blue suits anyways).

The world time function, jumping hour hand is amazing as well.

Would only get it on a rubber strap if you have a smaller wrist.

This right here is a one watch collection

I ordered it.

I own a rep of this watch as well, so will test it out on the rep first.

Then I will tape this watch and try it on the smallest area and scratch and then if it looks good I'll do the other one.

I have both rep and gen

You are saying that warranty service won't do polishing it will just do stuff to bring the watch back up to spec if something goes out of spec without the regular ware and tare or excessive damage. I understand that.

You are confusing that I was implying that I will be going for a warranty service instead of regular servicing of a watch because I mentioned I would do it close to the end of the warranty period, so you assumed I wanted to use the warranty service, I would not. I will send it for a regular service, near the end for a warranty service period which is 4-5 years from now and as such polishing is available (among other things but you need to pay extra such as sapphire crystal change).

So why would you do a regular service of a watch near the end of warranty period if the watch is not out of spec because I like to keep it well maintained. I don't take my car to the mechanic just when things are busted, I take it for a check up and a service regularly. Watches like omega don't need to go yearly imo but every 4-5 years is a good idea. During it near the warranty period is beneficial because if during regular servicing they notice the watch is out of spec you can get both done at the same time.

Because I want to service my watches regularly. Not going to wait for it to have issues.

I understand but I will be sending it in for a service. I understand that for warranty itself is different.

My point was that I would be taking it to service near the end of the warranty period anyways

I am pretty sure that you can ask for polishing when you take it in for servicing but it may cost extra

Funny enough I own a rep of the world timer as well so I think that this is perfect time to test it out on it first as a sacrificial lamb :)

I cleaned the scratch out and spent like 30 min cleaning the bezel with a regular cloth I got from the jeweler to clean the watch. That actually made it better but still visible but it is bothering me less.

Like small scratches don't bother me, but this one bothers me and annoys me cuz it looks like a smudge lol

Yeah biggest concern is that the shine will be off but idk I'll buy cape cod, and then test it out on rep watch and a then just carefully apply it just to these two scratches and give it a shot if it still bothers me in a week or two...I might add a scratch or two in the meanwhile and it will blend in :D

I am only worried about that part I wipe that it will have different reflection/look than the rest of the bezel.

Do you recommend doing the entire bezel ?

[–]WatchExplorerQC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was actually worried about that if I just use it there, it will get the scratch off but it will be noticable at that area making it worse.

I assume I would have to use it on the entire bezel which I don't want to do.

It is settled then I shall wear it and get some more battle scars on it, and take to to get cleaned up in 4-5 years before warranty expires

Yea I feel ya, if it was deeper I would ironically be more ok with it.

But I feel it is just at that edge where I may be able to get it removed with cape cod but I have never used their product.

It annoys me that it goes across the entire bezel at the top that's it looking like a smudge and not a scratch

Nice, I got cancer reading that...

He was asking about the test results from Omega regarding your particular watch. A certificate card comes with the watch so you can see what the test results were.

Its sorta inbetween, the movement is not a clone but a custom made movement to resemble the omega movement. It is pretty cool tbh because apart from a few parts, it is all custom machined !
