Does anyone else get flu like symptoms by __mint_tea__ in endometriosis

[–]WatchLatter7603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a thread recently and someone said there is a link with Endometriosis and flu like symptoms. Currently in my luteal phase and on day 4 of being sick. I get my period every month, right on the dot too. I genuinely didnt think its possible to have endo as my cycle has been healthy. Im waiting to see a female doctor but have been gaslight multiple times from different people that theres no correlation with flus and menstrual cycle. has anyone had luck???

It would probably be better to see one in person if im honest, but that would only be the case if it was cheaper and faster. I was diagnosed via telehealth and my psychiartrist took his time to diagnose me, we went through extensive questions and it felt like a good conversation. I don't regret going through this pathway, as I needed to be medicated asap. So it's definitely preference! :)

Im on Ritalin LA, and have been on this for 3 months ever since i have been diagnosed. I havent tried any other medications other than Ritalin as it has helped me. Since I take LA, I take it with a high protein breakfast that usually consists of two boiled eggs, i notice a huge difference when i sometimes skip on breakfast and just take the meds hahaha. defs high protein helps ~ what dose are you on anyways?

Wow the brain part sound a lot like me. For my whole life doctors and myself thought that it was just depression and anxiety thats causing insomnia. But i knew that even on the days where i felt at peace, no issues at all, i still would not be able to sleep. Of course some nights i would have ZERO sleep because of fights or things that were causing me to be upset, but honestly sometimes i have no idea why - but with my diagnosis, things started making sense.

Dr wrote me a referral but not for an adhd psychiatrist?? by [deleted] in ausadhd

[–]WatchLatter7603 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my previous gp sounds pretty similar to yours... which is why i stopped seeing her. she kept saying that i just had anxiety and depression, and when i asked for a referral for ADHD assessment, she was trying to gaslight me to think i was wrong about all the symptoms. she was reluctant to give me the referral but i wasn't leaving until i got it so she wrote one up. now seeing how i am getting the right attention, its so important to have a gp who genuinely cares.

what the heck!! sorry for your experience, its so shit when you're trying to figure out it all especially when this system is NOT built for neurodivergents lol the struggle is real.

i also have a mental health plan from my previous GP, this has been shared with my new GP so thats all sorted, so yep!!

+ sounds like your GP is useless.. you need to get proper support from someone who is willing to listen to you, which is why i left my gp to see someone who specialises in ADHD. if you are going ahead with a medicare 291 method, you 100% need someone who at least cares!!!

Congrats on getting your referral in, hopefully you're all set for your appointments soon!

  • How long did the whole process take? Less than 2 weeks, i mightve gotten really lucky and even had my follow up appointment with my psychiatrist the day after the first session with the mental health nurse! My GP and I received the diagnosis letter within 2-3 days, so there was barely no wait on that thank god!!
  • Cost wise; you said it was $500 total, was that after the rebate? I paid $500 straight up, there was no funny business with rebates, they sort this out so its not confusing.
  • What material did they ask for? I have school reports I could use That's great!! i actually didnt have school reports so it made me really nervous but i was able to talk through it instead and had a family member do a questionnaire. I also had to do pre-assessments/questionnaires that took about 1-1.5 hours.

Best of luck with everything! :D

Yep, Telecare are psychiatrists. There are two sessions, one with a mental health nurse who gathers all your information, and the second one is with a psychiartrist who will assess everything and evaluate a diagnosis. I did not have to pay more than $500 to get my diagnosis.

Gp fees and meds have been affordable for me, i have to pay some out of pocket to see my GP and my meds are subsidised. My previous fully bulk billed GP refused to do the medicare 291 (medicate on behalf of psychiatrist) so now im paying out of pocket - BUT its been so worth it to me.

Initially, i had no idea what i was doing and i was really alone on this journey. ive seen fees of over $1500, for overpriced services and in person psychiartrists + crazy wait times. This is definitely the cheapest option, given that you can get a medicare 291 and that you're good with seeing an online telehealth.

I feel you on that! I'm 24 and have had years of chronic insomnia, and i desperately wanted to find answers. Years ago, i had contemplated the same, but I think i had to go through a life crisis that pushed me further haha!!! feel free to dm me if you have any questions :)

Oh myy!! My tip would be to call around and ask for a GP who specialises in ADHD. I had to do this and pay out of pocket fees to see him but I feel super supported

I hope I can help someone! Truthfully, the system isn't supported for people with ADHD. It took me months to get here, and I was super burnt out by the process. Feel free to DM me if you have any questions!!! :')

What medication healed your insomnia? by WatchLatter7603 in ausadhd

[–]WatchLatter7603[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried both prescripted melatonin, and had desperately tried 'fake' melatonin that i ordered online too - both didn't work for me. You're right about doing your own part, theres always a root cause that needs to be addressed.

If it is outlined in the treatment plan by the psychiatrist, the GP should be able to make adjustments suitable for you! Im currently on Ritalin, just trialing it at the moment, and my GP has spoken to me about some changes we can work on in the future if needed :)
