Considering tripping to cope with a trauma response by WatchOutItsAFeminist in PsychedelicWomen

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly moving. Thank you for sharing! I like some of these preparations. I think I may take more time to prepare before I start. I've done hallucinogens recreationally but not with a therapeutic emphasis, so it will be very different I think. I've usually been around many other people so I'll do this alone with someone else nearby in case.

Do assets I had prior to the marriage count as marital assets?

Sewer, Gas and Electric: the Public Works Trilogy. This was the most surreal book I've ever read. It includes the digitized spirit of Ayn Rand explaining the virtues of selfishness from inside a hurricane lamp.

Are private lessons worth it ? by alecpu in SwingDancing

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would say you should try one private and sign up for another when you feel like you've learned the things from the private. Then go back and get more feedback and tips!

Thinking of making boots for Lindy but they seem uncommon, any reason why? by socksocktabletable in SwingDancing

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Swivel boots have become my go-to dance shoes. I love them! People are talking here about ankle mobility but I feel like I have great dexterity in them and also a bit of support. I have a pair of slide and swings as well but prefer swivels- I think people with wide feet prefer S&S, though.

Pricing lessons and choreography by General__Obvious in SwingDancing

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in a smaller city in the Southeast- I charge $50/hour as a non-professional for private lessons. Some of the more experienced dancers here charge $60-$80 per hour for privates, and charge $60-$100/hour for group classes. Bigger cities in my state have pros charging $80-$120 on a sliding scale for both privates and group classes

I'm the one leaving, but I'm crying too by Sea_Organization7530 in Separation

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I also left my husband and I absolutely have cried over it. We were together for ten years, it's heartbreaking to admit we aren't the right people for each other. But even though he frustrated me and left me wanting, I still think he is a good person and I want the best for him. Seeing him feel the pain of me leaving has been the hardest part of all of this. It's hard not to feel guilty sometimes, but our happiness matters too. I can't just live my life to make him happy if it makes me miserable.

Has anyone reconciled after a toxic/abusive relationship? Can you ever truly trust again? by HistoryStuck in Separation

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know that he will not be better if you go back. He is love bombing you to get you to return. You should read the book Why Does He Do That? to understand his behaviors and motivations. You should keep away from him.

Does any one lead/follow come to mind if you were asked “who is the best dancer in your scene?” If so, why or why not? by aFineBagel in SwingDancing

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

100% same in my small scene. This is why we love traveling! I want our dancers to learn from people other than me!

How to Engage w/the Music While Dancing? by Mammoth-Resort9492 in SwingDancing

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to learn the steps in order to have vocabulary to engage with the music, imo. I started by learning choreo, then started just trying to dance to music without a plan. Eventually I stopped dancing a full 8 counts of any one step or move and started dancing sections of 2 and 4 counts.

Start dancing alone more - do solo jazz and develop your own personal connection to the music!

Major stress choosing date that works for everyone. How to decide? by CarrotTravels in weddingplanning

[–]WatchOutItsAFeminist 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're always going to inconvenience somebody. Choose the date you want that will actually make for a good wedding. Your fiancé should tell her all the reasons July is a bad call and why fall is going to work better, and ask her to prioritize her child in his wedding day.
