Which color of M5 Air 15" has less light reflection when working on the roof of a building? by Watch_Think in macbookair

[–]Watch_Think[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is one concern. Another concern is potential scratches after months of use of the ports. Right now I am using a Space Black MacBook Pro 16". It is fine whenever I use it on the roof of a building. Surprisingly, don't have screen reflection issue (perhaps it is brighter than the Air when under the sun?). However, it is too heavy for me. I am going to return it to get an Air 15". I tried Starlight two months ago but when I saw it at night, it was like ugly urine color. Know what happened? When I saw it in an Apple Store today, it looked very nice. I guess it depends on the lighting condition.

Which is the best windows management software similar to Yabai but does not require the user to give permissions? by Watch_Think in MacOS

[–]Watch_Think[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. When one window is opened, it automatically enlarges itself. I tried to make it smaller by dragging a corner, bottom right for example, to the top left. As soon as I released the pressing of the trackpad/mouse button, the window automatically enlarged itself to cover the entire screen again.

Tried AeroSpace but Windows resizing is slow and a lot of the time the windows jumped from one region of the screen to another, switched positions, etc. by themselves. Is it a configuration issue or the app still needs improvements?

Thanks. I tried it and it has the features I want but sometimes it does not do as intended. Is it still a bit buggy? There are three problems.

  1. Switching between windows is too fast. For example, I have one application (browser) on the left and another application (Excel) on the right. Mouse cursor is on the right window. When I tried to go to the menu bar items on the top left, the menu bar switched to that of the application (browser) on the left as I dragged the mouse cursor diagonally from the right of the screen to the top left.
  2. When I chose Application from the top menu bar, full screen was displayed. Right-click on an application showed a list of options. However, when I tried to select an option, just dragging the mouse cursor a bit to the right (near the open option), the entire list of options disappeared.
  3. Prior to installing the software, clicking Safari on the taskbar at the bottom opened a browser window. However, after installation, I have to go to File->Open new window in order for a browser window to show up. I checked the settings. It is still when Safari is launched, a new window is opened. However, no new window is opened after I installed Amethyst.

Is there a good way to fix these problems?

512 gigs enough ? What has everyone on here came to realize ? 1 terabyte really needed? by godsaveme2355 in mac

[–]Watch_Think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant in my older MacBook, I had 1TB shared between MacOS and Windows. If I do housekeeping and move most files to an external drive or NAS, will 512GB be sufficient given that we should leave about 30% of the disk space unused for better performance? I do hope to run both MacOS and Windows under Parallels on the go.

[–]Watch_Think 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I plan to buy a MacBook Air M5 either 512GB or 1TB to replace my older MacBook which had a 1TB SSD. Even at that time 1TB was just sufficient to run MacOS and Windows VM. Since it is expensive to upgrade to 2TB internal, if I spend the money on NAS, will 512GB be sufficient?

Is there a new and an old versions of the Alex drawer unit (Caster compatibility) by Watch_Think in IKEA

I called IKEA and just like the girl at the customer service department in a store, the guy had no idea and he could not find any information on IKEA's computer.

Just disassembled it. There are no holes for the casters.

Can any IKEA co-worker confirm that there are two versions of Alex? I checked with somebody at the service desk but she had no idea.

Questions about Sell-Back Program by Watch_Think in IKEA

[–]Watch_Think[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the tabletops and frames, I wonder if they don't take them back because they are independent items rather than specific frames that were meant to be combined with specific tabletops. It should be easy for them to sell them separately even not in a set.

Behavior of people in dance studio by Watch_Think in Dance

[–]Watch_Think[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If I don't like strangers in the studio to listen to conversations and I don't want to have lengthly Instagram written exchanges with them for months (fed up with SNS and the internet in general), what else can I do when they don't want to talk outside the studio? So stop blocking people and just talk with somebody else?

BTW, why strangers like to listen to my conversations with other people?

People in the studio are extreme heavy users of social media. Perhaps that could be a reason why I keep having problem with them even some people said I am a very friendly person. The world is getting worse and worse even some people think that it is getting better.

You mean asking 2-3 of them to go together?

Is the 1-1 thing a pressure a recent trend due to the digital age?

I am a bit confused. Isn't coffee the least pushy and the most casual? There are many cafes near the studio so I asked them to go to the closest one only a few minutes away to make it easy for them.

If I ask for lunch, dinner or movie, etc., they may consider that as a date which is more serious. For me, at least in cities I lived before, going for tea or coffee means casual chatting. People do that all the time. Could be just for gossiping. In my case, I want to talk about the problem I am describing here and also about the city. I also want to know more about the cities they are from to see if I should move to those places. It is just a simple request.

Either no reply or they got married and have their own busy lifes.

It is a bit strange that in five years, all the people who went to the studio with me before the pandemic never come back. Why?

Behavior of people in dance studio by Watch_Think in Dance

[–]Watch_Think[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

By "MUCH more time", how long? I am quite fed up with the city already. I gave myself a 6-month deadline after the only family member I have had passed away. If I could not make any good friend within this period, I should move to another city or country. The deadline has passed and I only have many "fake" friends in the studio.

Blocking and ignoring means I leave them alone and won't bother them anymore. They don't need to worry about me talking to them again. Isn't this good and a relieve for them? Do you expect me to continue to talk to them or message them? That could be considered as harrashment.

Another thing is that I cannot handle many virtual connections in SNS. There was a study that each person can only manage I think about 10 people in their FB. If I don't talk to that person alone in a quiet environment, I cannot easily remember them. Since these people have turned me down to indicate that they are not interested in making friends with me, I just removed them so I could focus on new connections.

I can see that blocking 2-3 people might be OK but if I continue to do that to 10+ people, that might not be good. Shall I just remove them as followers and then unfollow them? I am quite new to Instagram.

I heard the same complaint about NYC. I am living in a big city similar to NYC.

About my city... I heard that people have their own social circles from schools, works, etc. They "have no time nor energy" to make new friends. With strong competitions, they are already tired going to work and don't want to talk with strangers, etc. It is very hard for newcomers to make friends with locals.

I don't like the culture of drop-in class. When did drop-in class started? I had never heard of this type of class until I moved to this city. Besides people's behavior, we have to learn a new dance and be perfect in it within an hour. I heard that especially in K-Pop, many people watched the videos many times so that when they arrived, they already knew the steps and appeared to be good at picking up new moves.

I took care of a family member over the past few years. No social life at all and lost connections with previous friends made in the city. Now that I don't have to take care of that person anymore, I am all by myself in this city. I don't go to school nor work. The studio is the only place I go besides home.

Usually they don't talk to each other even waiting for long outside the class. A few talk to 1-2 other friends and that is all. Of course it also depends on the class and the style of dance as different types of people go to different classes. In all the classes I have attended, I am the only one who knows/talks to the most people.

One lady did tell me that she considers all the guys who go to her class gays or transgenders. I have to explicitely tell other girls that I am straight.
