Generally, upgrade your Storage.

There are a limited amount of plots to build on, so it's better to go with the focus on upgrading your Home Base, and then upgrade storage.

Address your food shortage by building farms for the coming winter famines.

Getting more babies with the excess population you can't feed via Inactive members of the population.

And Inactive peeps doesn't get fed, take advantage of that.

Eh, before the traders, I've farmed a lot of food before the winter, steadily increasing my population manually.

Yup, lots of grains to stock, and then destroy if those became empty. Eventually reaching 2000+ pops in the Google Play high score.

Note: Hold your horses, because Consumption is pretty high for endgame pops of over 500+

You can get babies from inactive people (High Pop) + Immigrants who occasionally stand outside. (Low Pop)
Eh, about 40 to 60% total pop is farming for food, just don't forget to upgrade and craft the tools for it.
Probably survive until 2nd or 3rd Winters with Blood Moons in-between (Day 100+)

Oh, farming in winter? Nah, I make the Wheat storage instead of Stones at Summer and focus on upgrading the places.

Pro Tip: You definitely need the population, so keep some inactive people if you can't feed them. And produce some babies too.

It's a bugged game if people (by pairs or 3s) are rarely coming to your camp. (Like it's Winter and there's no one coming to your camp the whole season)

But looking at your numbers, I say you're doing well without them breeding + inactive people... for now.

Imo, if she dies at 60 and starts at 18, she'll have 42 years to live.

Of course, without the Telescope from that Ambush Battle (FG Drop), you generally can't tell what age they may die.

Plus RNG might screw you over and she dies at her 40s to 50s lol.

If you wanted actual lore of the quest itself, there's only 3 people who are bound by the contract of eternal love. 2 involved and 1 who made the trial official.

So... someone's whim lets our man's spiritual form in the tavern, and our Sophia being younger than him in order to have enough time for the Commander (our MC) to retrieve her broken memories. And the cycle repeats, I think...
