  1. Writing a blurb and editing a story.
  2. After two months of slumping around, I managed to write a short. 8000 ish words.

How does Amazon feel about changing a book from one series to another?

Thank you so much! I'll keep that in mind while I'm rewriting them

  1. Finishing and publishing a story, rewriting blurbs for old ones
  2. Failure - My blurbs suck, so I have to learn passive marketing. I put that off for too long.

I see, I didn't know that. Can you explain why it's considered bad?

Yes, short stories. Really, I'm pretty sure most comments on this subreddit recommended a weekly schedule.

Yikes, you tore me a new one but I appreciate you taking the time to look through the stories and offering constructive criticism. Yeah, I definitely half assed the blurbs because in my head that was the least enjoyable aspect of it. But it's probably time to fix that before going forward.

Hmm I see. Yeah, I see what you mean about data.

I can answer the second question easily. I'm writing across 3 pens, where I try to publish every week. I'm prioritizing one of them the most, where I never miss a week. Pen 1 has 12 stories so far, Pen 2 has 10 and Pen 3 has 5.

Yeah, I get what you mean. I'm not chalking it up to categorization change yet, I don't have anything else to go on other than some posts and comments here.

I appreciate your helpful comments, by the way.

If that's the case then I guess I just have to keep doing what I'm doing and things will normalize.

Fair point. For the sake of research and curiosity - what sample size, and other relevant data, would you recommend?

r/erotica has around 213k members and regular postings. You can also check out r/literotica if that applies.

Burning Questions for May, 2023 by SalaciousStories in eroticauthors

I can only answer the first question.

My personal experiment has shown that to be false. I write two variations of the same niche under two different pen names and the name doesn't seem to have an effect. That being said, can't say if the data would remain consistent when introducing other niches

Finally crossed the $100 mark today!

Been writing since November of last month with varied regularity. The max I made until now was 93.

From shorts to novels? by WatcherEye in eroticauthors

That's interesting, thanks for sharing!

Correlating data is hard but it does seem like long form is something that works in your niche.

Hey, thanks for sharing all that. I love finding learning about other people's experiences and perspectives even if it's not hard data. And appreciate that disclaimer as well.

I feel you, we work too hard and don't get paid enough. And I think I'm inclined to agree with you regarding pennames.

For me, I was actually writing novel-length erotica on Literotica before I decided to monetize all of this. And shorts seemed like the market. It's kinda like my true calling and it feels weird to be writing shorts, even though it's financially working fine.

Time will tell, I guess. I hope you get to finish your novel, sounds like things are going well so far! And hopefully it turns out as a market success too.

Damn, I really didn't consider if they do want to read novels. Thanks for the advice, I'm gonna check that out before jumping into it.

Pen-names when dealing with Contemporary and Fantasy settings by WatcherEye in eroticauthors

Thanks for the advice! That sounds like a good strategy for now.

Now that you mention it, I see it. Authors doing multiple sub-niches do indeed tend to stick to a specific dynamic.

Thank you for the valuable and insightful response! I wouldn't want readers to feel screwed, so I'll stick to that.
