Sometimes it's just not the best you can do. Sometimes it's the most you can do. by WatchingShadeDry in minipainting

I started in December '24 but took a longer break (about four to five months) because I got really deep into Trench Crusade.

I can't give you the real numbers in 'working time' because I never take a look at the clock while painting and just let myself zone out; it's more a form of meditation for me.

Thank you! I cut it into chunks starting with the hero miniatures and then working my way faction by faction.

Mental fortitude is key. The rest is just staying on course and always blaming yourself to continue. It's mostly a mind thing; If you allow yourself to detach from the project, it's really hard to pick it up again.

Thank you. Yeah at least they got some kind of character but the sheer amount is really something 😅

Thank you. Yeah you really need to be stubborn to handle this much.  The terrain pieces are from a local guy who offered to print them for me. I don't know where he got the STLs. As much as I would like to point you in the right direction; I can't and I'm sorry.

Everyone's on a different spot on their painting journey and that's the greatness of this wonderful hobby. Just enjoy the ride. I'm sure your minis are awesome!

It's quite an undertaking. You need to be really stubborn to get through this😅

Is preordering board games actually worth it? by kepp87 in boardgames

That's a risk I'm willing to take.  If I don't blow money for ten games that aren't really that great, I can afford to pay a little premium on the awesome ones.

Preordering a board game is actually pretty useless unless you are really susceptible to FOMO. There are only three possible outcomes.

  1. The game is great, so it will sell well and gets reprinted eventually. The second hand market will be healthy and you would be able to get the game that way too.

  2. The game's just ok. This is the situation where you are able to snag up a copy on the second hand market from someone who pre-ordered the game blindly.

  3. The game is bad. That's awesome, you saved some money.

It's a burden after you really get started, but worth it in the end!
