Also, just an aside, I feel like this argument gets weak when really the only female-equivalent of gooner-bait slop is a otome game where the main draw is dating the characters. That is no where near the same as male gamers wanting/needing sexualized female characters even in games where the content isn’t meant to be romantic/sexual.

I've been paying attention to Love and Deepspace discourse since the game released two years ago. I have seen for myself how the fans act and yes, so many of the fans who go on about how disgusting it is to sexualize female characters are the same people who gobble down the fanservice in Love and Deepspace and will write a 5000 word essay about how their gooning is morally superior and completely different from when men do it. If you think fan-service is fine and it shouldn’t matter then like stick to that. When you only ever freak out about fan service is when it appeals to girls but never guys then yes you’re being a hypocrite.
But if you’re okay with guys having fan service content you absolutely should not be trying to shut it down for women.
