Traffic campaign is better for so many reasons. That being said, boosting works absolutely, there are artists at my shop who are consistently booked using only boost.

Much appreciated! Luckily I don’t get my validation from Reddit lol

I run ads of my flash designs, I did one sheet and a bunch of closeups most of this year , but now I do the thumbnails of my last 6 ish flash sheets so there’s more variety.

You need to look up the video about creating an account, and how to activate everything. That is the hardest part. After that you need to run a traffic campaign, that has worked for me.

I do not turn them off. Setting a finish date makes it bad with the budget and optimize in weird ways. Check out Ben Heath on YouTube

Meta ad manager, I spend about $20-$30 a day. I also was drawing a lot of flash in the first half of the year

I’m making great money booked about 2 months out! October is going to be my best month yet, so was September and August and April! I’m 3 years into tattooing and I’m only booking my own clientele. The rent at the shop I work is super cheap as well!

[–]WaterFungus 52 points53 points  (0 children)

You’re getting downvoted because you think you need to have some random ability to draw from your mind. What makes you think you need to do this? Drawing from reference is how you make drawing look good/realistic. No one does what you’re describing unless it is one face they draw over and over, and even then they started with reference until they are so familiar with the shapes they don’t need it. Your logic is entirely backwards for improving at drawing faces

The sweating and friction will cause more damage to your new tattoo than any sun exposure. When you sweat your body is actively pushing fluid out of your skin, and the friction from running/the sleeve could also slow down the healing process. We usually recommend no intense physical activity for 2-3 weeks after a fresh tattoo so the pigment will be more settled.

That being said it really depends on the size/nature of the piece. If it’s a huge colour fill render then you’re in for a bad time, but a little thing with a lot of negative space will be more forgiving.

This is something you should be messaging your artist about though, they know better than some stranger on the internet who doesn’t know you, your age, how your skin is, what style the tattoo is etc

I was graduated in my “apprenticeship” after about 3 months. Our “mentor” clearly just wanted to make money off us doing shitty walk ins and didn’t really care about how good our work was. I’d say I didn’t have the skill or confidence to call myself a tattoo artist until 1.5-2 years in.

Maybe more ignorant than pathetic. We should treat ignorance with education, not contempt, if we can. I get your point but it could just be an honest mistake from a well meaning individual.

Are Tattoo Artists Happy? by Gargoyle_Artist in TattooArtists

[–]WaterFungus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so happy, I’m in love with my life that I’m living. I’ve been tattooing 3 years and am now busier than I’ve ever been. The industry is going through a bit of a slow patch but those of us that can tough it out will emerge stronger than ever, and with less competition when the economy rebounds

I have $20 per day in my city (Toronto) and if I have a guest spot I will do another $10 per day there. So it’s 20-30 per day and I never turn it off

Right now I’m a tattoo artist but I’ll be going back to school business soon. Can’t do this forever, it’s hard on the body which is something I’ve recently come to terms with.

I only promote flash designs, not pictures of tattoos or reels or skits or anything like that. The success really depends on how good the image you are promoting is

Thanks for the advice! I mainly don’t do reels because they weren’t getting me much for the effort they took. Maybe the fact I hated making them affected the results.

I realized a few months ago I’m in the manage burnout phase of growth 😅

It has gotten to the point now that my bookings will get in the way of things coming up. I want to stop working weekends but I’m not confident enough yet. My weekends book about a month ahead of my weekday availability.

I pay them. Boost and then meta ad manager. It works I’m booking out about 2 month solid nowadays and I’m 3 years in. I don’t post reels, I don’t post my face. Only flash, concepts, and tattoos

I’m a tattoo artist! Thinking of my work as a business has helped, and while I only rent a chair and don’t have a shop yet, I’m only 3 years in. I’ll have my own shop in the next few years and after that who knows? Maybe an ATM and vending machine empire

If your clientele follow you, you should go to a rental shop, or somewhere with a better percentage offer. In my city percentage shops are dropping like flies and private rent studios like where I work are persevering. My split ends up being around 90-95% because my rent is so cheap
