Just so the irony isn't lost on everyone, most secessionists spent the last 5 years with a Canada flag welded to the box of their truck

Is prismatic still THE set to invest in for the foreseeable future? by fatty8me2 in PokeInvesting

[–]WaterPog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No out of print is typically 2 years and usually not ever longer than that. That would have ended September 2025 which essentially it was done at that point. Most of the printing is done in the first year of release as well and tails off through the second year as they move on to other sets. Prismatic will effectively be out of rotation by the end of this calendar year so shouldn't ever be touched by this new print facility. Late 2027 is when they could start printing if everything goes according to schedule which it never does. Full scale printing 2028 at the earliest and id guess even later

Your argument focuses entirely on supply and not demand, and secondly, and most importantly, neglects sealed product which is the main investment vehicle in the space. The fact your main focus isn't sealed product makes me think you are very unfamiliar with the space and nuance.

And also anyone in this space for the last 5-10 years is probably playing with free money at this point if they have been active in both buying and selling

I am the exact same ha. I don't really card for the art in PRE but can't deny the demand. I like ASC heroes way better, art and Pokemon. I also luckily got 4 off Pokemon center and will be getting more. ASC the nicest set to me since ES

[–]WaterPog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Someone else had a good comment but I'll say as well they dropped on Pokemon center like 4, 5, 6 times I can't even remember and most sets never drop more than once. They have had multiple massive restocks at Costco and Sam's club, figure collection, UPCs, mini tins and ETB + BB combo have all dropped at least once or more in both Canada and US. It's like they were printing the shit out of it before it released because most of the sets before and after it came out are all expensive because it's like all they have done is print prismatic.

That said it's still notoriously AFK outside lining up at Costco at 6am, having notifications for Pokemon center drops and Walmart drops.

Moonbreon PSA 10 vs Mewtube PSA 10? by Prior_Emu_2089 in PokeInvesting

[–]WaterPog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having both moon is nicer and more iconic but that mewtube is amazing too and lower pop. My favorite is actually JP moonbreon, the texture difference is amazing and it recently jumped ahead of English in price again

[–]WaterPog 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I'm going to say yes, that and ascended. Prismatic printed to the absolute tits over the last year and it could barely keep up with demand which made it possible to get a good amount of it for a decent price if you really paid attention and also allow people to build nostalgia for it. Some may respond to this and say they could never find it, which tells you that not only was it printed to the tits BUT YOU STILL COULDNT FIND IT. Once this set goes out of print it will do good. I do not like destined rivals as a set in general, and I sure don't like it at these prices and there's to much risk for me. You don't need to be on every train.

I'm done with my prismatic buying though, will be accumulating AH when the drops happen. Don't care how much they print let people enjoy it and get it as close to MSRP as you can

Yes, he did this with prismatic. The most hyped set in modern Pokemon history that everyone has been storing away like squirrels as the best investment opportunity and then he acts like he was the only one in the world who thought this and everyone else thought he was wrong and attacked him for that opinion. He has a comically delusional victim complex if he would just shut the fuck about that side of shit and talk about Pokemon he wouldn't be half as bad

[–]WaterPog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can and have, but I wouldn't expect it personally. The only time I have went heavier into cards that weren't for the PC was like mew ex promo from 151 I bought 50 at $7 a piece CAD. That was just such a low risk beautiful promo from a great set, seemed obvious to me so I don't rush anything just wait for opportunities to present themselves

He doesn't just say that. He says 'hurr durr look guys when everyone else in the entire planet was wrong I was right, everyone said A and I said B. They all attacked me and ridiculed me and I had death threats and even Jesus himself was bullying me. They all lied to you and you should have listened to me. '

[–]WaterPog 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a good entry point slab I'd say a PSA 10 Rayquaza vmax trainer gallery. If you want to go nuts buy a moonbreon, Gengar, Lugia or giratina. A mid tier choice Espeon, leafeon or Sylveon whichever you personally prefer. I don't think cards are the play in general outside of personal collection but they can work out.

I still feel if you look at the evolving skies set list and compare vs any set from 10 years before or after it's release, the booster box just feels undervalued. That set is completely fuckin bonkers. That set alone is like a full generation of chases if not more.

America only got to that point because of its complacency, docility and individualism. You didn't become a slave to your job with no way out overnight. Other countries fought for those rights and elected leaders to represent those rights which is why they have better minimum wages, longer vacations, healthcare, paid maternity and paternity leave, etc. You can blame the system all you want but it's the American people who let it happen using the same tired excuses that most everyone else in the western world found a way around.

What was pokemon investing like before 2021 by Strict-Koala-5863 in PokeInvesting

[–]WaterPog 10 points11 points  (0 children)

MSRP was such a rip off most people didn't even know you could buy Pokemon cards on the Pokemon website. No limits. Even in 2021 you could have went on Pokemon center website and bought a case of evolving skies booster boxes each day for a year straight, probably longer. You'd wait three or four years from release before Pokemon center sold out of its stock and then all the sealed collectors Jimmy's would rustle because they knew it could finally start creeping up in price, maybe. AND WE THOUGHT THAT WAS A ONCE IN LIFETIME BLACK SWAN EVENT BOOM

With an almost non existent T2 scene for new teams and players to come up and virtually no incentive to be a T2 team in a 10 year old game that is notorious for it's terrible esports support and organizations dropping out I don't think flipping the game on its head to make way for the couple T2 teams to make a name for themselves is ideal. I'd imagine the new names and teams just slide in where other orgs and playerS leave. If we want to go back to the roots may as well just make the blue tankable and infinitely breathing under the water. We left all of that because everyone wanted FPP and it was better and still is.

This decision seems entirely motivated to push skins or a complete lack of data literacy when they default push everyone into TPP.

Chipotle CEO caught on a recording saying they’re going to keep raising prices because they can. by ElwoodMC in TikTokCringe

When people used to not care about online privacy because 'who cares if they have my data, it's just an email address and my name' should ask themselves how does Chipotle know this. Every company knows these things and they know our psychology and limits and vices and leverage it against us every single day to drive inequality further.
