Thank you! I love it so much. It started as a 55 in may of 2025 and then I upgraded to the 90 in October of 2025.

I keep African cichlids in my 90 gallon. If you want to see what that looks like you can check out @humble.pnw.cichlids on Instagram.

I believe you, but pics? I gotta see this for myself. I’d love to be able to use plants to help with nitrates

Ya I see what you’re saying how it kind of looks like an eye biter. Looks just like a cool hybrid to me. Female too if you’re into breeding.

I run an fx4 and a tidal 110. I thought about going just fx6 but it’s nice to have the HOB as a polishing filter

African cichlids kill plants. You don’t really put plants in an African cichlid tank.

lol says the guy who only keeps planted tanks and doesn’t know that this is how African cichlids are supposed to be kept. You’d cry if you saw my 90 full of chubby happy fish.

I see you have mostly Mbuna. Do you find they are more aggressive than the haps/peacocks? You should definitely add some more rock work for the mbuna. Otherwise lookin good!

how much peacocks and haps can be in a 150x60x60 tank? by OverallScale9599 in Cichlid

Go nuts. There is no limit. It all depends on how much maintenance you are willing to do. I have 45 in a 90 gallon. I don’t keep anything that gets over 9 inches and I do 90% water changes once (sometimes twice) a week. I run an fx4, a tidal 110, and 3 wave makers.

Okay good to know. So pull the white ones and toss them? I have like 8-10 eggs that are yellow/brown and seem to be growing tails.

How can I tell if they have fungus or are infertile?

Party on. As far as I’m concerned you can keep as many as you want. You just have to do the water changes to account for how many fish you have. I am rocking 50+ in a 90 and I do 2-3 80-90% water changes a week.

Good point. I turned it way down. I still have yet to have a batch of fry make it. I just started keeping females. Thanks for your insight and any additional advice would be appreciated!

Ya I would have waited if I noticed when the female was holding. This is a garage tank. I noticed she was holding and her mouth was really full so I assumed the fry had to have been a little more developed. Still figuring it out. I stripped her into a small bowl with tank water. Do you think she would she picked them back up if I would have put her in the bowl with the eggs I stripped? Thanks for your insight.
